I was riding home last night in the most beautiful storm and decided to take a more scenic route outside of the city lights. A storm was brewing, but rain was not here just goergous lightening that lite up the sky. I have riden in rain, this was my first expierence in this weather. I was blown away at how amazing it was. My only regret is that I got so wrapped up in admiring it I did not stop to take photos, hopefully a night that will happen again soon for me to get the shots.

Sounds amazing. That is one of the advantages we have here in the plains, real thunderstorms.

Get that camera out next time!!!!

Did you get hit by the wind? The south side of town really did. I live near Lakewood. BTW, don't know if you've found it, but a local site (not a club as such) is www.dfwscooterist.com

There are a lot of people from there that post here.

This is not typical of me, and I hate to be the wet blanket and all, but riding a motorcycle during an electrical storm is less than a good idea.

Your best bet is to either hightail it on home if you're close or seek shelter.

I prefer shelter in dark, cool places with beer, but department stores and movie theaters are fine.

It isn't quite as dangerous as you think. This is the west; we can see for miles and miles and miles. Really, it's typical to see an electrical storm that is so far off you can't even hear the thunder. And if you huddled up in your cave every time you saw lightening, you would miss some of the best natural beauty and weather the area has to offer.

Actually, the particular storm that the OP was referring to was upon us, not far away. I've had to ride in those before, and if I can, I attempt to hug the side of the roadway near trees so I wouldn't be the tallest object. Sometimes there just isn't anyplace nearby to stop.
