why do people post pics of their scoots that are straight out of the box... heres my %$&cc %$&*£$ isnt it cool ... no its like the one in the showroom and every other one that they made....why not just copy n paste any random one off the wibblyweb.... even those that bolt some chrome on and say its customized .. no its just has a few bolts tightened with no imagination......

...... now if youve brought an old rusty barnfind back from the dead and made it look like its just been pulled from the crate then show it off... or if youve put an auto lump in an old frame ... or just put nonstandard things on your frame like lammy forks in a vesp or et rearlight on a p you get me drift..........

dont bother showing off your scoot if its just a shop bought standard .. do something to it make it stand out ...... a tin of heinz beans is a still tin of beans where ever its photod

right ill shut up now ... rant over (for now)

I think that there's enough variation ...even in those who have totally stock original vintage bikes ... differences in aging and quality of condition ... that i'd like to see pics of them all.

I'll admit that when i see pics of bikes that have been customized in some way i always think "eh ..i would have rather that looked stock" ... but that's totally my opinion... and something in my conditioning now, after learning how to discern asian bikes from original. I don't want everyone to be the same as me and have the same bike.

I still give the nod to customs and choppers and such. I get it.

New bikes? When people post pics of them as they just got home from the dealership? Eh... i could do without. You see one Red GTS you've seen them all. But - they're excited about their new toy... and this site is geared to help out the person who just bought their new toy.... so i can't be too upset about that.

Bah. It's like showing off pics of your kids... you can't help it. Everybody (mostly) can make one of the little brats, but sharing pics of them when you're a new parent just can't be helped.

Scoots are the same deal.

While I agree that seeing the before and after pics of a resto or custom is wayyyy more interesting... any scooter pics are appreciated by me, even the modern stuff.

I got all excited when I got mine and felt I had to share

Now it's been seen, and it looks like all the other orange ones (except mine hasn't got anything from the bathroom store on it) I feel no need to show it again unless it's part of a cool situation photo, or I crash it, or I make a major mod (like a new sticker )

Or unless I'm provoked

People just want to share their excitement. On MB one guy was so proud that he turned 400 miles! Heck I often do 350 in a day on the Burgman.

As long as people are excited and having fun thats fine with me. If their photos bore me...well I just pass by them quick.

I will say that I enjoy browsing the scoot.net rally photos...you never know whats going to turn up there!

Now be sure to check out this Vintage Buddy 125 with custom seat cover!

I know I know....I just couldn't help it!

I like stock (with the exception of a different seat, etc), and like seeing both customized and stock photos of scoots. I usually post my pictures of my stock scoots with some type of background/scenery shot, but I don't mind seeing others "just scooter" shots as well.

Geeze man, why does this bother you so much? If I post a "hot" woman, you might not like it and vice versa. To each their own?

I prefer the stock look as well or something that is mildly modified so that it has a clean, yet stock look to it. ie different seat, engine kit, suspension. In my opinion it's just not my thing when a scoot looks like a badly modified honda civic, but to each their own.

i like stock too but... its way to expensive for me Razz emoticon

i have a really nice vbb2 1964 and what i do with that? maybe not cut the body or done chop it, i just change the rear wheel to be 10" so i can trust my rear brake and i put some feet peg so i dont get tired easily every time i ride it (which by mean everyday ride) and i dig ur reason to not make it look like fresh graduated dealer and yes i also put some of my tasted in the paint to make it look different and for what i do some people are saying bad thing like ohh man what u do with the rear wheel and the paint it look not stock.. and my answer for them is 'would u gave me money to keep it stock " end of story

I prefer the s line on the right..

anyway, I like seeing other people's rides, part of it stems from the whole grade school show&tell, but I think many that have a general interest in cars, scooters, etc, can appreciate someone else's pride in their ride. I'm all for it, and I try not to judge other people's scooters or cars because beauty is in the eye of the beholder. for the record, hardly anything I own is stock. the VNB has a better carb and pipe, and I plan to do quite a bit more as i get time and money. the A6 has been re-tuned an paired with a milltek exhaust to a transmission munching 320bhp and about 315lb/ft. now, with something like the VNB, I won't do any non-reversible mods, but I feel that so long as it's not pimped or chopped, personalization is a good thing.

as far as vespas go, I really dislike crash bars and tons of racks, but if that's your thing, go for it.

I realize that was his original point .. but if you're going to make that argument, a modern enthusiast could also make the argument that a white GS160 is a white GS160 is a white GS160

Was there a point?

We can all agree that a new standard scooter looks just like another. But, this forum, like thousands of others, is for people who have an interest. And people who have an interest like to share with other like-minded folk...for example on a gardening forum I bet nobody complains that they're sick of looking at pictures of other peoples' grass and dirt and shit, so chill out.

I'm tired of seeing standard red GTSs and am far more interested in the PK50 rebuild thread, for instance. Fact remains, nobody is gluing your face to the screen and making you look. You don't even have to click the threads that say "Hi here's my new GTS300" unless you want to piss yourself off I don't understand why people put bathroom stuff all over a scooter, but it happens, and I can live with it, without being a bitch about it.

Hmmm, on www.modernvespa.com there are loads of pictures of Modern Vespas. Who'da thunk it?

Just for you, sweetie:

Can't make that comparison. Grass and dirt and shit is grown individually by the person. It's all different depending on where they are located, the type of grass, the alkalinity of the soil, the acidity, how much they water, fertilize, etc, whether they use lime etc, etc, etc, etc. Their grass and dirt and shit is as individualized as that Rod Douglas with the Italjet engine.

Sweetie.

Besides I wasn't the one who started this thread, so save the sarcasm.

Wow.

This devolved into an internet slap fight pretty fast!

I think that a lot of people post pictures because it is their first scooter and it is new to them, even if everyone else has seen a ton of them.

Don't take it personally if you have done this. If everyone who posted a picture or thought on the internet really thought about what they were doing and what it meant and reflected on it for a day or two, there would be a lot less amusing and interesting stuff.

Hell, when I bought my LX, I picked out a retarded name and posted pictures of it. Later on I realized that I was being an internet turd and picked a real name and only posted when I had something to contribute.

I agree on the FWD..buying a fwd audi is kinda like buying a 50cc scoot for a 15 mile commute to work; it'll do the job, and willl be fun, but it'd be alot more fun and practical to get something a little better.

here's my toy:

Spent most of my 20's patching up 70s and 80s models...I'm still patching an 80s one up (not too nicely - it's going to be a drift car) but next month I am going to the dealer to work something out. Either a 3 series or a 1 series with superpowers

It warms my heart to see people of disparate Italian scooter backgrounds come together with a common appreciation of German autos.

It doesn't matter if you like cutdowns, full face helmets, blue smoke, twisting and going, half helmets, shifting, chrome racks, flip flops, or stickers- we can all agree that the Germans know how to make a pretty good car.

Maybe we need to add a German car part of the forum so that everyone can agree on something. I guess that people would think that MV was trying to be like BBS, though.

I just like scooters. No prejudice if they're auto. A classic is far more my style but at the moment it's more important that my wife has a reliable, easy to ride scooter. I just happened to fall in love with the little orange bastard after about 30 seconds riding.

God..I miss my 01 Audi A4 Quattro.

It had a few upgrades:

K04 turbo, Neuspeed down pipe, full cat back exhaust, chipped, bigger intercooler. Eibach springs and shocks. 18 inch RS4 rims and Michelin Pilot 40 series tires.

Loved the looks from people that got burned.

if u go for a drift there no other bmw better then 80's M3 coupe Razz emoticon i like 3 series too as its easy to tuned it high only if the parts arent too expensive.. just a silly question why people choose 3 series more then a w124 coupe (300ce) not judge just curious cause i own one and try to sold it here but the market didnt want it and prefer 3 series

I like my cars german, and my bikes italian.

I like the 3 series myself, but it's too small for me to be practical(I'm a small guy, but do lots of highway driving with passengers). though I only like the 330's and up. I'll probably never leave the audi camp for a daily driver though. the sure-footed quattro is something to respect.

I totally love sleepers, the A4 can make a good one, I was going to get either an C5 S6 or B5 S4 avant before I got the A6, people getting smoked by a wagon is the ultimate comedy. alas, the S4 was too small and the S6 too rare (they only brought 1200 state side, and a few have been totalled or destroyed, not to mention it's not a 5V.

You're right of course, they have chassis balance to die for...except they're not particularly powerful and worth a small fortune now.

My old sled:
External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text
'86 M535i, engine a little tricked (255hp dyno print up from 218 stock) dog-leg manual trans (that means first is down where you expect first to be, 2nd and 3rd are on the same vertical plane, apparently that's for racing...ya right ) limited-slip diff and right-hand drive. It's not too nice, bodywork-wise, so I'm in the process of taking all the 80's cladding off the 70s-designed car and refitting the skinny chrome bumpers off a lesser model.

Got no garage of my own so it's getting a grey-primer paintjob. 8) Way faster than an M3 of the same era, but wild in the turns...how I like it!

I've admitted I know jack about scooters - but I do know some stuff, about some stuff! German performance cars rock. I haven't had any American muscle yet. Gimme time

Oooh, how off-topic did this go? Laughing emoticon

You're right of course, they have chassis balance to die for...except they're not particularly powerful and worth a small fortune now.

My old sled:

Laughing emoticon
i hear u mate, and u do some great thing with ur m5, yes its more faster then a m3 and i know the sensation in tackling the curve in high speed especially with the wider body of m5 Razz emoticon silly i never like m5 until i saw ur and what u do to that beast seem ur a guy that know what u doing with germany enthusiast car, nice we have this talk but u still hasnt asnwer my question about why people like m3 better then a w124 (300ce) Crying or Very sad emoticon

I like looking at birds tits. Doesn't matter that I've seen thousands of them.

So if this thread could go off topic in that direction I'd be more than happy.

I don't mind if they're factory stock or if they've been modified

The Mercedes and M3 are aimed at different markets, 300ce is a powerful luxury coupe but with more emphasis on luxury - most were automatic. M3 is also luxury but more "racey" - those little M logos used to stand for "motorsport" (now they whore them out as a marketing tool - my next car hasn't been anywhere near a race track, but because I want sporty trim it's plastered in little M's ).

I like 'em both but if I could only have one, it'd be the BMW. The Benz is a smooth car but it's a cruiser. To see one on full opposite lock with smoke billowing out the rear tyres just looks wrong

Now...can we see some tits?

Don't get him started on scooters on trailers!
I'll get started for him

I'm a Brit and I know how different it is over here in the US with work vacation times and rally travelling times/distances, yada, yadda.

However, I totally do not get the point of trailering modern bikes of over 200cc. When I ride my GTS to rallies I get there FASTER than if I had gone in a truck or car. It rides like a sofa, so its as comfortable as hell, and with all the storage space in it, my camping gear fits very nicely. If its a city rally I have more than enough room. Plus, its cheaper on gas to ride it.

I am always gobsmacked when I see a trailer full of GTSs pull up at a rally over here.

My 2c.

Andrea
