With the recent fires displacing Coyotes in the hills, there's been an uptick in Coyotes sightings and some run in's with humans in Griffith Park, Silverlake, and various areas in So. Cal.

Spreading the word as I know some local MV'ers frequent Griffith Park and live in Silverlake, etc--Good to look out as well when scooting...

One guy was lounging at Griffith Park, and a coyote decided to "munch" on his foot. ouch!

When I lived in Los Feliz years ago I would occasionally run into a Coyote in the neighborhood. It's freaky and stopped me in my tracks.

Ditto, I ran into one on the westside around 3 in the morning. Getting out of my car. I saw something lurking about in the shadows.

The thing wasn't scared of anything. High beamed em with bright lights, etc.
It took throwing a plastic water bottle in it's direction to scare em.

They say, make lots of noise to scare them away. If they become desensitized and are no longer afraid of humans...that's when you have something to worry about...

The sucky part is in Griffith Park, the city decided to "put down" about 7 of them. Sad they couldn't come up with an alternate solution to killing them

BUDDHA i wonder if they are like bears. Once they do something they will alwas do it. Moving them won't help. That's why bears have to be put down.

We have coyotes here in Chicago less than a block from where I live.

There is a huge state park with a lake and we get tons of Wildlife in our neighborhood. The coyotes here are only 40-45 lbs and I don't think twice about them. 220lb guy vs 40lbd coyotee.. lol He better bring his friends. They are really skittish and run away as soon as they see you. I take walks with my 65lb pit bull at night and the only fear I have is she will take off after one and get into a fight. I'm sure she would win but I don't want here getting some disease or getting hurt.

Coyote's have been seen walking yard walls (we have cinder block walls instead of wood fences) here; walk the dog early in the morning, just before sunrise, and they follow you sneaking in the shadows, jus watching and waiting - in around the Bosque.

More coyotes and bears! Fewer people and boutique pets.

We have had coyotes here in the Beaches neighbourhood in Toronto for the past year. There have been many sightings. Unfortunately there have also been many missing dogs since the coyotes have arrived as well. People have seen coyotes picking up small dogs and running away with them. Crying or Very sad emoticon

Here in London we get foxes (smaller than your Coyotes) I live opposite a small wood and a guy who owns a local restaurant stops by at 1am each day and feeds the foxes any left overs. It's a strange sight to see 20 foxes chasing after a car in Suburban London as he pulls up.

There is a pack of coyotes that live in our (semi-rural) neighborhood. The only trouble they cause around here is a little whooping and hollering in the evenings, but I kinda like the sound.

It's true that they'll eat small dogs, cats, rabbits, and ground squirrels, so keep your small pets on a leash, and you should be fine.
