have been enjoying my new s150 for about 4 months now. I have been having problems starting on cold & damp mornings. I'll start to give it gas & it starts out slowly then makes a knocking noise. I'll try to give it more gas but doesn't rev up. I'll let go the the throttle & engine cuts off. I'll start it again same difference but I'll let engine warm up then cut it off. I'll come back 15-30 min later & it finally starts up. any tips or suggestions from any seasoned lx or s riders?
Try putting some seafoam gas additive in after every fill-up. It seems to make my scooter run a bit better. could be a coincidence with the weather and starting. Good luck
Thanks for the info. I'll probably go w/seafoam 1st. where do you get this? is it readily available at most of your auto parts or does it have to be ordered? If that doesn't nip it then I'll go w/leaning the carb. because of special tool & tach I'll probably get my dealer to do adjustment. My only question is does leaning carb constitute modification? I still have about 8 months left on my 1 year warranty.
Went out & bought seafoam & it definitely helps my scoot run smoother but next morning same problem. Went to my dealer yesterday he had the tool to lean out the carb. I was amazed at how my scoot started w/o any throttle. This morning I went out to test start engine it was about 55 degrees & it still would'nt start & rev up. I warmed up engine waited cut it off & waited 15 min and presto. I guess I'm fortunate in this instance I'm a weekend rider or I'd have to be getting up an hour earlier everyday. I'll contnue w/seafoamand maybe things will improve.
As I stated earlier I went to my dealer. he got the tool did some twisting and we're done. that was in sept. 70 degrees today halloween and bike still rough starts. warming up right now. I gueess I'll either go back & maybe he'll get mechanic to lean in carb the right way or I'll have to buy the tool & do myself.
