Finally got the wife a helmet and got her to ride around the block on the back. Not too bad, except for sitting a little farther forward on the seat. Ready for this...she says I should get a bigger bike so she can go on the next ride with me. Damn, just when I thought I had life figured out.
A bigger bike would be fun, but you can go 2-up on the GTS with no problem. Cathy and I do it all the time. Have taken several 3,000 mile trips without any problems.
My wife is hooked too, we're not the tallest folks though and she isn't digging the GTS's pegs too much... that's OK since it will make buying my next bike easier
No, man! That is wrongheaded thinking! Don't be coerced into a big, unwieldy monster just to accommodate the few times you'll have her aboard. Think of the nimbleness you'll be sacrificing most of the time when you are riding solo.
The initial response would be to say that a bigger bike is not needed. After all, Zee and I ride two up often with no issues.
But.... combined we weigh 260lbs total. There are many people out there who weigh more than that by themselves. I don't know the size of the original poster and his wife, but if they are both larger people then maybe the 250 is too small for their comfort.
