Doesn't look like it... But:

- Trapezoid headset
- the fact that it's a 1967 (most Sprints and Supers in the US seem to be 70s)

I guess that's it. Could be a Euro import. Definitely not a bodge, but doesn't look like a US bike...

From this one picture, i don't see anything wrong.

from 1966-69 or so, Sprints had trap headsets... even ones imported here, IIRC.

Also, from this angle, i don't see anything that screams asian bling... normal stand and boots, normal legshield bead, straight frame, original looking seat, proper centermat.

I don't see any reason NOT to trust this, based on 1 picture.

"bodge" is probably misleading. it looks very original.

i was thinking it was possibly an Asian import... I guess mostly based on the year.

Seems like Piaggio imported the vast majority of bikes to the US from 1959-63, 71-85 (with the majority being 74-81), 2005, then huge numbers of the four-stroke models (or maybe those are just all still on the road, around town).

I never knew the SS was rare, because they seem as common here as other models of roughly the same era (GL, GT, Rally 180)...

Anyone know why there are so few late 60s/early 70s bikes here? I always thought those were lean years for Piaggio, but obviously they were selling lots in other areas of the world...

That's a very nice Euro spec Sprint with trap headset.

Later Sprint models that were US spec came with a round headset.

I would bet that scoot is more 1965 or 1966 than it is a "1967". Early Sprints had the "Sprint S" badge on them.

Remember that on trap headset sprints it usually indicates it is the slower "non-Veloce" engine. FWIW

This bike is in LA. I don't know the owner, but the bike was on consignment at Bar Italia for quite some time. Now it's being listed by Kott Motorcycles as an apparent trade-in, which makes sense as they are friends of BI.

That's what I thought too. He's advertising all the way up in SF. He must really want to sell it.

I really like this Sprint.

Can someone explain to me why I get a strange feeling inside, a bit like envy, whenever I see Eric's avatar text Laughing emoticon

I've gotta clean up the garage tonight... so i'll take a pic or two while i'm in there.

The GS160 mk2 had so much rust and dirt and years of crud that i had to chip off of it that it's all messy in there now. Needs cleaned so i can begin GS160 assembly.

I would not be suprised when Eric showed up with the last Rally ever produced 8)
According to the Technica books, these were produced up to 1979. Isn't that correct?

Boy, are you kids lucky to have me.

Here's the production numbers for the Rally 200 ( per the Vespa Technica 6 )...years produced, and serials associated. Yes, you may have a US-Spec 1977 Rally 200 ... but it was MADE in one of the following years, and was just badged and titled as a '77 when it sold that year in the states. That's how these things worked back then.

Your 1974 Rally 200 might have also been produced in 1973, and so forth.

Vespa Rally 200
1972 VSE1T 001001 - 004593
1973 VSE1T 004594 - 0011698
1974 VSE1T 0011699 - 0021939
1975 VSE1T 0021940 - 0028695
1976 VSE1T 0028696 - 0033949

1975 VSE1T 0021940 - 0028695
1976 VSE1T 0028696 - 0033949
Technica 3 does mention the range upto VSE1T 0042275
These last 8326 must have been put to market 1976+ I guess.

I think the Vespa Technica books are RIFE with error.

There's a whole section in Vespa Technica 6 where they correct all the errors and misprints in the previous 5 books.

Like .. i think there's a page PER volume ... 5 in total... that detail out all the errors they've made in the others.

Ha ha, trivial But still beter than...let say... any Microsoft release Laughing emoticon

Part 6 is a bit too steeply priced as an addendum for me.
Beter save that for the missing P200 collectible I desire...

Dark blue is probably my favorite scooter color. I've had/have an SR50, a Bajaj and a Stella that color too. Here's my Sprint.
