Hey guys, I haven't been around much cause i've been on vacation for a while. While I was gone on my trip, I left the scoot with a friend so that he could ride it around once in a while and he had rode it almost weekly. He then pumped gas into the tank and I completely forgot to tell him NOT to top off the tank, but he says the moment the nozzle clicked he stopped. Anyhow, he started it right up at the gas station, rode home, and days later went to fire it up without any success. I am going to his house probably tomorrow or the day after to take a look and was hoping that you guys might have some ideas.

One other thing, do you guys know anyone in the Seattle area that does services for Vespas for relatively cheaper than Big People Scooters? I would just like to get a few things taken care of and was hoping that someone other than the dealer would be able to help me out. I'd love to watch and learn how to do a few of these things myself.

Thanks guys
Bennyboy

Do the dash and headlights work when you turn the key? Does the starter work at all? Perhaps the battery has run down if your friend only took short infrequent rides.

Do you have the evap. system disconnected? If not, I would still consider checking the air filter to see if it is full of gasoline.

Battery is dying, lights turn on, but will not turn the motor anymore. Any recommendations for a battery tender. I imagine jump starting it connected to a car battery isn't the best way to go about it.

Why not? You can do this no problem. Just don't have the car engine running. Your scooter battery is a big capacitor and won't have a problem connected to a car battery for a jump start. I've done it a few times with an LX.

Get the Battery Tender Jr., it works well for keeping your battery charged without overcharging it when you're not riding for extended periods of time.

strangest thing, hooked up the scooter to the car battery and it fired right up. Literally, no cranking. Pretty strange, now just have to find out of the battery will still hold a charge I rode around for 10 miles or so yesterday and will be putting some more on soon.
Thanks
Ben
