Hello all, I know this is a well chewed subject and I've read quite a bit on what to get and all... The place I get my tires at is REIFENDIREKT.de and I have it down to two models: PIRELLI Diablo or the MICHELIN Pilot Sport SC... the one thing that confuses me is the FRONT/BACK opt. (not the size but the thread)... I was looking at this for the front

http://tinylink.com/?8YegsKHtn4

and this for the back

http://tinylink.com/?XMM8AClh0f

and then this came up

http://tinylink.com/?LlsLtzYHmi

What is the difference? I wanna go PIRELLI but I could not find the DIABLO for the front, could I go with the DIABLO for the back and the GTS23 for the front? THANK YOU

I am not trying to be unhelpful, but that is nearly impossible for my eyes to read. Some line breaks might be helpful. You may get more answers that way.

I put the GTS23 front and Diablo rear on this year.
So far it's been a lovely combination with no problems.
I don't ride hard enough to scrape the scooter (loop or centerstand), and I am careful in the rain, but I have been known to ride fast.

Thank you. I guess I could go that way to. How is the combo in rain?

I'd go GT23 front GT24 on rear. Good in the rain. Very sticky. Others would go with Heidenaus.

Hm, that is an opt. as well, I was just thinking of something more sportier as I live in an area that is as windy as spaghetti in a pot... I just heard that the two (pilot sport and the diablo) handle great.

The current tires on my vespa are not that worn down, they have 5000km on but they are the first tires on this vespa and it was made 2006 so I figured I'd replace them for the winter.

Anything will be better than the original Savas. The Pirelli GTs are sporty. The front one will definitely make the scooter more stable. Some people have had good wear out of them, some have not! (Genie for one).

I don't feel I can give a really complete answer, but for city riding in heavy rain I've had no problems with them. Again, as a approximate guess, my cornering speed drops to 60% of my dry cornering speed in the rain. I'm cautious in the wet.

making your links smaller and more manageable is much more pleasant for those of us using smaller screens ... it means we don't have to scroll back and forth to read your message.

That's exactly how my GTS is set up, and I could not imagine a better combination. Mind you, this is my second Diablo, and I've done some miles with other tires and other combinations.

120/70 GTS23 and 130/70 Diablo.

my personal experience with both brands is that they're comparable in terms of stickiness, but the K61 is a much more 'lively' tyre to ride - it's got a stiffer sidewall and makes the scooter more responsive - it turns a lot more easily. the pirellis give a comfortable very stable ride but i found myself having to muscle the scooter around more at low speeds (mind you i am feeble and weak)

Thank you all for your responses, I guess I need to think about the pros and cons of the combos here and make a desiccation in accordance to that.

The stock combo on mine (Euro edt.) was not SAVA but a PIRELLI and they became a bit stiff, I would guess age, that is the main reason I am going for the change.

Sorry about the long links and the not so neaty post, I will try to mind that in the future.

Okay, here I go again, I just placed the order for the GTS23 for the front and the K61 for the back. I hope that works out good for my GT. Thank you all for your input.

I have used the Pirelli GTS24 in the rear and have found out twice, that once they get worn they get soft. Thus, I've experienced 2 flats at about the same mileage for each (3200 miles). Now I have the Michellin Pilot City on the rear and the Pirelli GTS23 in the front.
