I have a 2007 GTS250 and recently installed a front fender guard. First thing I noticed while installing was that my front fender always seemed a little "wobbly". When I looked, there was a fastener missing under the fender that attached it to a piece of plastic that covers the front shock. So, while installing the guard, I found a screw that fit and fastened it. Today I noticed that the fender seemed loose again and this time, noticed that the screw at the base of the plastic that screws into the wheel was missing. Do you think its ok to just screw it back in (if can find a matching screw)? I dont' want to break anything but, I have to say - I'm wondering if that fender guard is a good idea - its seems too heavy for the fender and the fender's stabilizing mechanism doesn't seem very well designed.

I have the fender guard on my LX's and have had no problems at all ... but those with 200's and 250's have commented that they have had trouble with them falling off.
If you want to keep it, I would take it to a dealer and let them know the trouble you've had and ask them to fix it for you. If you aren't that taken with it, then lose it! |

Does the LX mount simply bolt to fender edge or does it have a center support? Tom |

Which of the many available front fender guards did you buy? Each of them mounts differently. In my experience there shouldn't be any problems with the front fender being wobbly after installation.

It has 4 brackets (2 on each side) with a nut and bolt on each. There is nothing on the front at the middle. Mine hasn't budged since I put it on. I think the reason some of them fall off is that people put the nut on the wrong side. I have known a few men who don't read instructions from time to time!
When you look at this photo, it looks as though the bolt isn't touching anything ...but it is an optical illusion. I thought so too when I saw the photo and raced outside (wrench in hand) to take another look! ![]() ![]() |

Aha! Well, it always helps when we are talking about the same item! I was talking about the front crash bar and you were talking about the front thingamajig!
I think it's called a shock cover or brake cover ... not sure which. In any case, yes, you have to replace that a.s.a.p.! Call your dealer. Don't try to use just any bolt. It will be a metric size. |
