The LX can indeed store a FF helmet. I have a Schuberth C3, which is a flip-up, though admittedly one of the smallest out there. Size L fits the pet carrier with only little squeezing.

This is getting ridiculous. Please read back through the thread. What I said is that I wouldn't own a scooter that couldn't stow THE HELMET OF MY CHOICE under the seat. I also clearly stated that I use a copter helmet. I've never tried to stow a FF there because I've never owned one, but I'm told that some compact FFs may fit, particularly in an ET... but that is totally irrelevant for me.

You can wear a soggy helmet if you like after a thunderstorm, but it's not for me.
What is ridiculous is your involvement in this thread at all. You would choose a scooter based solely on whether it could hold your choice of helmet, even though for 50+ years scooters couldn't hold helmets at all and you feel that they should?

You are the one making the silly assertion that a vehicle that is designed to be small and nimble and have limited storage should somehow accomodate a huge inflexible styrofoam dome.

What in the fuck is a "copter" helmet anyway?
You don't want a soggy helmet but you're ok with a soggy face because you don't wear full-face?
Your logic continues to boggle me.

Why is my involvement in this thread offensive to you? I have a valid point to make that there is no reason a good scooter design can't accommodate decent helmet stowage. Why is that not germane to the topic?

I DO have a small nimble scooter that has decent helmet stowage... that is why I posted the pictures to show that it is indeed possible.

This -- to accommodate your lack of initiative in looking it up for yourself -- is what a copter helmet looks like:

As to getting my face soggy... have you never heard of a face shield? Besides, my face won't get moldy and smell bad if it gets a little wet.

I've made my points... I'm done with this stupid pissing contest.

And why does my involvement bother you?

I think it's just silly to have an expectation of storage on a scooter that has, historically, had very little to no storage capability by design.

I think it's silly to choose a mode of transportation like a scooter because of whether or not it will hold a helmet because, as I said, for 50+ years they had no storage.

I store my arai chaser helmet in size XL under the seat of my ET4 every day in work, The scoot is parked outside on the street in the same spot everyday and the helmet has never ever been wet when i opened the box and keep in mind i live in Dublin which averages between 50mm & 76mm of rainfall per month, it'd be very rare that we dont get a rainy day every 3 or 4 weeks. I know scooting didn't start out with the intentions of practicality but this is modern vespa and modern practicality is what its all about to me. I fit an unbelievable amount of stuff under my seat and it makes life very easy for me. This is what really got me into scooters and not motorbikes. I would not be interested in a bike that didnt at least match the underseat storage of the ET series.

My XL full face fits easily in the underseat lockerr of my ET4, and theres room for uther stuff, if i stuff my riding jacket inside my helmet i can get away with leaving them both there.

I have an XL Piaggio Copter too and it fits in the GTV under seat storage as long as I remove the visor (which i don't use anyway).

The original poster asked about what works with storing helmets on a scoot in NYC. I think SS's comments are entirely appropriate.

Not only that, but I too demand that my helmet stows on my scooter protected from the rain, because I too have all-weather riding requirements. It's not the "SOLE" requriement, as you clearly mis-interpreted. It's A requirement. Ever heard of critical thinking? And if my LX150 didn't solve my problem by having a pet carrier large enough, I would've considered a top case. Luckily, I didn't have to, bcs the LX fits a 3/4 helmet just fine. I prefer the larger storage capacity of a rack on the back of my scoot. It's more practical for my purposes.

Your perspective on what a scooter "should" be is obviously as narrow-minded as your perspective on what should be relevant to this conversation, and *that* is what Silver Streak referred to as a pissing match. If you don't think a helmet should be stowable on-board a scooter it's your involvement in this thread that is useless, because the original poster specifically wants to solve exactly that problem.

Oh...and historically speaking...my vino fit my ff helmet in it just fine.

Yeah... I used to have a Vino with a HUGE seat bucket (no "No Pets" sticker) too. Guess that's what spoiled us both regarding helmet stowage! Razz emoticon

Have you looked at Pacsafe helmet safe? Waterproof, secure and easy to carry.
Check it out!

I love mine!
Wow that looks great. I would only consider getting a full face helmet. I was just in an accident and got a concussion on my last scooter. I used to have a Nolan flip up until that hit the pavement. My spare ff helmet does go in the pet carrier, but it is very low end and is very uncomfortable.

I tried to put the Nolan in a top box to test it out and it doesn't fit! I find it ridiculous that a top box doesn't even fit a regular helmet. I think I am going to get a more expensive Shoei so I can see that getting stolen in San Francisco pretty easily if I put it on the under seat peg.

I think I might go with the Pacsafe unless anyone knows of another type of top box which is a little bigger.
