My LX is being tempramental at the moment and I can only get her going if I kick start it. It doesn't seem to happen all the time but especially if it's been left idle for a few days.

This week I haven't switched on the alarm and it's started no bother. Is this just a coincidence, or does anyone have any ideas why it needs to be kick started to get it into life?

It certainly sounds like your battery is low. Put it on a battery tender overnight and get it fully charged. If you aren't riding regularly or only for short rides, you might want to consider putting it on the tender once per week to keep your battery topped up. These batteries do not do well running down their charge.

I have to put the battery tender on my LX at least once a week. I ride all the time but only for short distances. Battery never gets charged up.

What make of alarm is it? The OEM one shouldn't run the battery down. Many after-market ones will. I reckon your problem is no coincidence.

Does the motor turn over with the start switch? If it sounds strong, but just doesn't start, it could be a fuel issue (like a fuel tap issue.)

If it doesn't turn over strong, it's likely the battery.
