Hello everyone,
I'm living in Paris, France where I drive a Vespa 125LX for one week now and I've spent a few hours on this forum, using the search button for many question I had on my new scooter... Driving on two wheels is not too new for me as I'm used to drive on a bicycle in wild environment for (wow, already) almost 20 years, including 2 months as a bike messenger in San Francisco in 1995...I had several scooters here in Paris, some ugly plastic Peugeot things and an old funny thing called a Solex for those who know...(I still have one of these..)
I drove a classic vespa (a blue 50cc from the late 60s) a few years ago that I sold just two months after buying it as it was way too dangerous : the vespa came from Italia and had this engine kit (making it a 80cc) with a muffler (Sito something) that had so much torque it was wheeling when starting...There was this foot brake like on the PX on which I was not able to correctly apply the right pressure, I had to make someone happy and sold it the price I bought it.
When I found out that the LX 125 had not anymore this foot pedal, I went for it and found a nice second hand from a pregnant lady who had to stop driving it. The condition is excellent, the service book is stamped every 2000 miles (3000kms) for 3 years now and it runs just like a new one for less than half the price...
I still have no picture right now but will take care of that this week end when I'll clean it a little as it stayed under a tree in the lady's garden during 2 months without moving...
What I plan to do now :
- resell the big windshield that I already removed as I'm not confortable with it (too high, I prefer the direct view on cars and street). Already have a few people calling me after an ad was put on our local version of Craiglist...
- buy the small windshield
- do the top case keylock hack as I'm always mistaking the scooter key with the top case key
- add the back pad on the top case for my wife comfort and daughter
- take care of the muffler cracking paint, I found several usefull posts on this topic and I really need to do something.
- buy 3 Mods target stickers, one on each side, one on the front, I'm a big fan of The Who and really enjoyed Quadrophenia...
- take several picture of a nice loop in Paris as I found an interesting section in this forum about trips and places visited from a Vespa
- and search again the forum, I have so much to learn on my new toy...
