for race fans the Michelin pro series is going tobe a big weekend in Leeds just outside of Birmingham Al. http://www.michelinuschampionship.com/

there is alot of prize money and it will draw some very good racers. camping over looks the track and paddocks on top of a hill. The museum is a must see all kinds of bikes, scooters and cars in there. There is so much to see in the museum it will take 3-4 hrs to cover it decent maybe longer. I spent 2.5 hrs and felt I just breezed thru.

Dirt,
I might be able to take a day off Friday and come over. Is there a place on line to get tickets and reserve camping space? The Barber site lists it as a private event with no ticket information. It has a link to a Michelin site with no ticket information. I noticed that the vintage event the next week already has no trackside camping available. Don't want to get there and find there is no camping space. Camping at the track is part of the fun.

I have heard from a number of people that the museum is a must see and it is on my to do list.

yes it is a "private" event so the promoter sells the enterance tickets at te track main gate. what they do is rent the track for the weekend and they get the entry fees not barber. I think it costs like $20 k or better.
The camping pass gives you in and out access after 9pm till 6 am. If you don't leave after 9 pm yoou don't need to spend the extra $25 for a camping pass. Last time I was there I just paid the weekend fee and there were only 6 or so campers on top of the hill. Most of the racers camp in the paddocks in the race trailers or motorhomes. This coming weekend there will be quite a few more but the facilities could easily handle a 400 or more tent spots.

I won't be getting there till around noon on Sat. I plan on leaving Sat morn early and having a nice easy ride down there. My route will take me thru Chattanooga if anyone wants to ride along. just let me know so we can meet up somewhere.

I scheduled off work Friday and rescheduled my 12,000 mile maintenance to Friday so I can make it.

Will the camping be open to get in Friday night if I get away from Atlanta in time? Plan to see you there OAD.

it should be, according to the website the office will be open 5pm to 10 pm . this is because alot of racers like coming in early and setting up so in the morning they are good to go and not scrambling like some others.

Indeed it is. Plan for some serious time commitment in there. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=86404&id=609977255&l=0a175133bf

(Fuzzy, this is Greg - we talked at Resurgence at the Krispy Kreme with Patrick. Make sure to see photo 46 in that album!)

Yes, it was in the basement - which looked to be an area that they store bikes for riding on the track or bikes that they do not have on display at that time. LOTS of inventory down there.

yeah the basement storage area is for bikes and such so when they want to rotate they have stuff to choose from. There are over 1300 bikes and scooters but only 700 on display at any given time. Some months they change out 3 and other months 20. The basement area is off limits as that is where they do the service and restorations at. You can see it for the most part from up above on the 1st floor. There are 5 floors in the place and start at the top it is easier walk down.

Cool - when we were there doing IRL testing they let us walk around the basement. They only roped off some of the actual storage area within the storage room but we could see all.
