Hi,

I have an LX and I've been wondering for quite a while if it is possible modifying an LX into LXV.

I've been searching all of over the net and didn't find any single clue how to go about it.

Or maybe it is impossible to do it since it is a limitied model.

Can anyone genuinely share if it is possible and if it is where should I start?

Thank you so much ...

Aloha and welcome. They are basically the same scooters with a different seat, instrument cluster and headlight. Might also be a few other cosmetic differences also. What modifications ere you thinking about? Most people just do a seat change. Hope this helps.

Hi and thanks for the warm welcome,

I would like to change the whole lot. The handlebar, the speedometer, the headlight and the saddle seat.

I've seen couple of sites that sell the lxv saddle seat but i'm not sure about the handlebar, speedometer and headlight.

Has anyone done any of these modifications?

Welcome aboard! My buddy has an LXV and has had consistent problems with the headlight breaking off. Evidently it is plastic and the attachment hinge is also plastic. And the crooks want $500 for a replacement!

Now, we do have the WORST streets in the WORLD. Only 2 have been repaved since Katrina. I guess that also qualifies us as having the WORST city government in the world also.

I would stick with just doing the seat and calling it a day.

Welcome to MV s3v7n!

To be honest, I think it would be less expensive to sell the LX and buy an LXV. I have 3 LX's but would never try to do all those mods to make them into LXV's. Just too bloody expensive.

Thanks TrafficJammer,

I think now I kinda figure why there's very little information on these kind of mods. It is too much money for a very minor improvement. Though naked handlebar looks so much sexier.

I might stick with lxv saddle seat and end up all malossi performance parts.

Unless someone can tell me where to look for cheap lxv parts.

Where are you located? If in the UK, eBay UK is usually a good source of parts (although newer models you might struggle a bit) ... dunno if matching colours will be an issue. You might want to keep your eye out on wrecked LXV's, for parts. Although as someone has mentioned, might be chaper to just replace it.

New parts will make it uneconomical to make the change , so your only hope is finding an LXV at a breakers. Trouble is , for such a new vehicle to be in a breakers it will have had substantial damage , quite possibly to some of the parts you need.

As has been said , sell LX , buy LXV is the cheapest option if just a seat swap isn't enough for you.

You probably can do it. You'd have to get a dealership to order you the parts that are different, handlebars, headlight, dash etc. You'd have to get the painted parts painted to match your LX since they will only come in the LXV colours. A potential problem is that the wiring harnesses for the dash of the LXV might be different from that on the LX. I don't know for fact that they are, but I believe that they are different for the GTS and GTV, but there are greater differences in the dash for those models than the LX and LXV, but I raise that concern just as a warning. The seat is the simplest upgrade. These things will be very expensive to order.

S3 i would quite honestly comb CL and ebay for a used LXV. If you could find a dealer who has one maybe a trade in? While you'd lose money on the LX i think it would still be cheaper in the long run. I don't know where you live but California seems to have the most dealers. Seats are easy to come by. Also keep an eye out on the for sale section of this forum. You never know. Good luck

I hate to be the party pooper. You would need to buy a new wiring loom. Replacing the loom is quite a major undertaking. You could probably do some creative cutting and splicing....

Parts required:

Loom
Instrument cluster
Handlebars
Switches
Saddle
Headlight

I can get you a salvaged LXV... you can take all the bits you want and then sell off the rest to recoup your cost.
