The 26 is from the T5, i think ( or really late T5's ...can't remember ).
It IS an option, i guess... if you're dead set on keeping your autolube. But, ultimately, that's the only advantage to that carb - stock looking, keep autolube, run the original airbox, etc. Most people, when it's time to go BIGGER than a 24/24, they jump to a dirtbike carb like a Mikuni, Dellorto PHBL or PHBH, Keihin, etc. A modern carb design gives you better performance, and way more tunability. All the largeframe proprietary carb designs are very old school - easy to dial in, but really lacking when it comes to tunability. There's way more things to adjust on a modern carb - which makes it harder to set up, but better performing when you get it done. No more flat spots in your range, a snappier response, etc. |

the t5 runs a 24/24g
i was asking bevause i had a line on the 26/26, but have since found out that the case is sized for a 24 and a 26 would need case work so the best non case work upgrade would be a vortex or t5 24 ![]() |

Al actially opens up the bottom of the carb a little when he does the vortex conversion, so to get the most out of it you still need work on the airbox and case.
maybe that's why people complain about vortex carbs spitting back fuel - they just bolt them on to stock motors |

I have a 26 carb fitted by Harry Barlow with my 210 trust me this thing flies the vortex unit on top of the carb makes all the difference. I had a PM tuned 210, it was so aggressive on pull away I got shot of it and opted for a Harry Barlow tuned engine, it is just as fast as the PM without pulling my arms out of their sockets!!

Just as an FYI, the 26/26 carb sold by us and other places is really only 25/25mm. I'm not sure if it's worth it to go up from a 24/24 unless you need a new carb anyway.
This info does not pertain to the Hot Rod Scooter's Vortex carb. |

Not worth it by it's self but with the simle addition of the vortex unit it performs as well as a 28mm. the big mouth carbs are a wast of time on road going vespas unless you really like the sound of them and paying through the nose for petrol. With a 26mm vortex we have clocked the scooter at 90mph.

26mm carb
I run a pinasco 225 long stroke and the 26mm carb is brilliant
you dont have to do case work you have to match port the carb mount box however it does work better with the case fanned but barely noticeable overall if its a standard dont bother but if you have atuned motor and enjoy autolub carbs then its Great |

I had the 26 carb on my P200E and it worked great, then I built my 71 Vespa Sprint Veloce with a Malossi 210 and I ended up putting the 26mm Carb on that and it works brilliantly.
Just like Scooterwest said, I don't think is worth spending the money on getting a 26mm carb if you already have the 24mm, I just happen to get one by trade and it happen to work well for me/my set-up. |
