hi, i have a vespa gts 250 with 13,500 on it and live here in phx az. have had no problems until yesterday. went to fuel up as normal and started the scoot like normal and it started up. throttled up and went about 20 feet and it died. tried to restart and no go. the starter and battery are strong...just seems like no fuel is going to the engine or something. thank god the vespa dealer was two blocks away. got a call later in the day saying all is fine, started up and come get it. got another call saying the scooter is not working again and the mechanic was coming up with a couple of codes...fuel pump and coil. two things, anyone have this before and will i have to sell a kidney to pay for the potential repairs? thanks for the input.

There is no code for the fuel pump. Fuel pump failure CAN be diagnosed from ecu codes, one of which will be a leaning out of the mixture. Agree that the spark plug, HT circuit is more likely to be the cause of a sudden failure.
Make sure your plug wire didn't come loose they
they have a bad habit of doing that
i would look at this and also has your spark plug ever been replaced. and is there any obsrtuction of your air intake? does it sound normal when it was running or did it sound weak?
What was the last thing you did before it died? Filled up with gas? Maybe you got a bad load of gas. This happened to me with a VW GTI a couple of decades ago. I had about two gallons of rusty water in the tank. The car never went off the service station lot before it died and had to be towed to the garage where it remained for days before it was really clean.
