Are you sure it's not coming from the fuel line? They're notorious for cracking and leaking fuel.

Perhaps the float valve sticking or not seating properly? It's easy to open up the float bowl to check that everything moves freely, that the valve needle and seat are not damaged, and that the float bracket has not become bent (keeping the valve from not closing at the proper level).

It's most likely that the float valve is sticking. Take it apart.................check and reassemble. |

That's the drain hole for the bowl. You should only need to tighten the adjacent screw and the leak will stop. No need to dismantle the carb.

ET4 fuel leak
Hi
I have exactly the same model with exactly the same problem. My dealer mechanic said that it was probably a bit of dirt stopping the float in the chamber seating properly. He said it was only a 10 min job to fix it but I would have to book it in for him to do it. Not wanting the hassle, an as its a second bike to my 300, I didn't bother. What I did though was to take the pipe and lodge it in the inside of the engine compartment so it was facing up and not down which solved the problem - no more leakage. You may want to try that if you can't be bothered to strip the carb down yourself or book it into your dealer. |

Another unfair example of taking a negative view of dwarfs. They are "Little People" and are no more likely to have blocked your bowl than a normal sized person.

Hi umberto - I take it that it was you I spoke to at CBS Whitton the other day - well done getting that screw out, and re-tapping! Full marks for that. I really thought you were going to have to find a second-hand carb.
