Hi again guys

I'm still working on my LML NV VESPA that I bought month ago (soon it will be painted with new colour)and I was wondering IS IT POSSIBLE TO PUT ON ALUMINIUM LEGSHIELD TRIM WITHOUT THAT SPECILA TOOL? IS THERE A SAFE WAY TO DO THAT?I really like to put new shiny aluminium trim after my Vespa is ready? Please explain it to me if there is a secure way to do that?

Thank you in advance

the shiny trim is plastic and you can fit it, it is rather tricky but I have done a few. I put the bottom of the trim on by the corners at the top of the legshields and then slide it down. Mind you I have known a dealer take 4 hours to fit one, I can do it in about 20 mins now

Thanks for your reply, but I think that I might have problem by doing that, because the edges of the shield are not that straight.I just removed the old trim.... Is there another way, some tool that can be made at home or something????

You are going to have to do some body work to get the edges straight to fit the plastic mold trim on.

Yeah. My understanding is its hard enough for people that know what their doing with the tool, that it might be throwing money away to try it without

no matter what you fit or how you fit it, you should straighten things out before even thinking about putting the trim on. they do make some chrome trim that doesn't require the tool (it's on my vnb right now). it has some small screws the friction fit the stuff on...don't get it, it rattles with the revs up, it's too big so your headset hits it, and it doesn't stay in place.. if you don't want to do plastic or rubber, then you'll need the tool for the aluminum.

the tool can be tricky to find and you will be extremely unhappy with the results, its almost impossible to get it to look original, unless you assemble scooters 8hrs a day 5 days a week with precision factory tools. the plastic type with the outer layer of aluminum is almost identical and easier to install..

Here's a couple of pictures of the trim I installed on my "58 Allstate. This was the first time I've done it and didn't find it too difficult.

So what is the final conclusion now? Should I buy aluminium trim or plastic chromed trim (because on guy said that it is easier to put it on)??? I'm not in a position to buy that special tool, that is why I asked is there another way to put it on the frame?

If you're not going to be able to get the installation tool, don't use the aluminum. I think the chrome, tube type trim looks WAY better than the rubber. It's your call.

Linky link for the tool https://beedspeed.com/product_info.php/cPath/80_164/products_id/237
And the plastic trim will be 10 times easier and cheaper to do. It's up to you at the end of the day.
