Howdy, looks like I found the right place. We purchased our first and second VESPA last week... (LX150 Silver and Plum) and had to ride one of them home from northern PA on the turnpike... what a blast! I have experience riding a very large motorcycle so riding on the highway wasn't a problem and my wife led the way in the minivan at a steady 60 MPH, except for up hills. We're picking up the second one next week and will get to make that ride again, might stay off the tpke though and stick to Rt. 81.

I've already found some great info here, this is great. We'll post some pictures shortly.

Welcome, kpederson.
I hope you find the forum as helpful and fun as I do. And we look forward to seeing pics of your new scooters. I think the LX150 is a great choice. But, then, I'm kinda prejudiced.

Be careful... riding a new scooter at a steady high speed is one of the worst things you can do to it while it is being broken in. You can ride it pretty hard as long as you vary the throttle a lot, but you really shouldn't cruise at a steady WOT until it's broken in.

I'd wager there are some nice secondary roads up in that neck of the woods that would make for a more pleasant trip without potential for harm to the engine.

Welcome to the board, BTW! LXs rule.

Congratulations on the new scoots! Did you know that there should soon be a Vespa dealer in Lancaster? Keim Pre-Owned on Manheim Pike is applying for a dealership. They told me that Lancaster was a high priority for Vespa, as many of the sales at other dealers were coming from here. I guess you prove the point! For some information on the scooter scene in Lancaster, see www.scootlancaster.com.

Aloha and welcome to the forum. LX'S are the best People have opinions but i ascribe to SILVER STEAKS way. Varying the speed breaks the motor in IMHO. Don't do any one speed continually, break it up. You'll have people who will disagree so it's just MHO. Have fun and ride safe.
