Venice Beach had their Abbott Kinney street festival Sunday. Place of course was packed, with limited parking. So of course some peeps rode down on bikes.
Zee and I were sitting on our longboards enjoying a snack, when we saw 2 doods on cruisers ride up to a scooter (Honda Ruckus) that was parked between a car and the red zone. The Ruckus owner had parked it close enought to the red zone so there was enough space for the car to back out.

The cruiser doods saw the spot, and moved the Ruckus until it was almost touching the car's rear bumper! Then they parked their bikes, and while they were taking their gear off they placed their helmets on the Ruckus!!!

About this time, the owner of the Ruckus showed up, words were exchanged (did not hear what) and the Ruckus owner eventually rode off.
Guess he was going to leave anyway but was not happy to see these dopes messing with his bike.

Funny thing is that the Ruckus rider was a big dood in his 40's, the bike had an extended swing arm and pipe! It sounded pretty cool. Still, pissed me off seeing those idiots move his bike, cuz their cruisers were more important than the scooter..

I really hate how little respect people in general have for others' property.

I'll be willin to bet that the people who moved that dudes bike would have shit themselves if someone did that to them.

Yeah, can you imagine if the scooterist was the one moving the other guys' bikes? I'm sure they would be pissed, I can't believe another rider would do such a thing to someone else's ride. I'd sure be pissed too.

That's just it! some people's children!!! ... but dare to touch their stuff and watch them go off like rockets!

On the weekend, I rode into town to visit a friend. I parked on the street because he doesn't have a driveway. I came out to find a woman sitting on the scooter with her nasty smelling toddler sitting on the seat in front of her! I really couldn't believe it! She was from Santo Domingo and pretended she didn't understand what I was saying, but I asked her very politely to remove herself from my scooter. When she did, there was a wet mark on my leather seat where the kid had been sitting!

I reached for the kid's blankie, wiped it up and handed it back to her. How bloody disgusting! People are just plain stupid at times!

I felt like following her home and peeing on her sofa!

For me the Guerilla Alarm is a great little investment/piece of mind for deterring stuff like this.

If your scoot is touched/or moved it gives off a little warning alarm/signal.

Really comes in handy....

heh. There's an alarm system I saw a show about in Africa that shoots out giant flame if someone tries to bust into your shit.

A fine investment I'd say.

a few years back in my "younger" days, some POS thuggish looking kid was eating a burrito while sitting on and leaving all the food and crap on my Range Rover in the city. I kindly asked him to wipe the food off and one of posse came to me and said "he doesn't have to do sh!t". Some how his friend ran into my knuckles...twice. Oh and I got a nice "car wash" done with 15 bottles of Poland Springs.

I just found out this weekend that a few months ago, my scooter was used as a prop for some wedding pictures. I work at a church, and I noticed the photo session going on in the garden, but had no idea the bride had sat on my scooter and had pictures made. The mother of the bride is a friend of mine but didn't know I had a scooter. We connected the dots this weekend and she's going to send me a picture of it.

So it makes me wonder how many other people sit on it that I don't know about.

Hmmm. How much draw on the battery would a USB type mini-cam be, you think? Or a battery powered button cam?
Find out 'a day in the life' of your scooter. Or what's happening to it while you're not looking?

happens all the time. happened to me last week, but it was a scooterist who shoved my bike aside to squeeze into a sliver of space, which was funny because there was a big ol' gap at the front of the car he parked behind.

This really pisses me off. I don't know what I'd do if someone moved my BV. I did come out of work one day to find someone putting their little son on my scoot. I have a 5 year old and I would NEVER have him go sit on someone's bike/scooter. Even if I didn't have my BV. I told him "Get your damn kid off my scooter!" He had the nerve to look at me like, "What's your problem?" He didn't actually say it but he gave me the look. You HAVE to be respectful of others and their property. Makes me think about getting that alarm.

Around here, it's people stealing your parking sticker. I have to take a picture of the sticker on my headlight as half the time I come back and it's missing.

People are just as disrepsectful of cars - especially when banging into them with doors, etc. We just have increased pain due to the fact that our ride is light enough to be physically moved.

I agree, an alarm is a good (but not cheap) solution for this kind of thing. I had a Scorpio i900 alarm installed on my GTV. It has an adjustable perimeter sensor which sounds a warning if someone gets too close. It also sends reports of 'violations' to a wireless fob over quite some distance (depending what's in between).

Soon after I got it I watched a poor old lady about to cross the street get warned off when she leant too close to the scooter having a look!

Yeah the size of scooters really makes them a more frequent target...My coworkers (none who ride of course) thought it would be hillarious to hide my GTV in another parking spot. Thankfully they realized it was too heavy and decided not to. Of course it is a lot heavier than a Ruckus. It would have sucked because I always lock the handlebars and I know if they had got it off the centerstand they would never have figured out how to get it back on. Who knows what kind of damage they could have caused...

LMAO!!!

Can you imagine, the seat pops open and out pops the trunk monkey.

That would make for a great commercial. Here is the You tube link for those not in the know about the "trunk monkey".

sometimes you just have to 'optimize' the space in a parking bay. if it's done carefully and with due consideration for the other person's property, there is no harm in it.

clearly, many of the anecdotes in this thread relate incidents where due care and consideration was not observed, and people have every right to be annoyed under these circumstances. i'd just like to point out that having your scooter moved need not always be seen as - nor intended as - a violation

Ouch. Did you go to the extra trouble of squirting mustard on the front tire and floorboard? Huh. Well, not like will stain, I guess.

I'd have to say, if he didn't think it was funny, then how could it be all that cool? Generally, imho of course, pranks are best when the prankee can see the humor gettin' got. Or, now hold on here, maybe you were trying to teach him an abject lesson in locking his ride down lest next time it gets carried off for real? Something like that? That might be worthwhile.

I just put it in the dumpster then went to take a nap. By the time I got back a few hours later he had it out and was washing it off.

His clubmates did the decorating.

It was still hilarious.
