A friend of mine purchased a new LML five port motor for his Sprint vietbodge and wanted me to install it for him with a new wiring harness switches, bulbs, etc. The install went well and he has had this motor for about a year now. He then decided to get more, "power" from it and decided to kit it and purchased a Pinasco 177 kit and a tuned pipe. When he got the cylinder kit, I noticed that the ports were smaller and that there were only two ports. The LML has three ports in the cases. In fact the ports on the LML cylinder were much larger than the Pinasco kit. Did he purchase the wrong kit? Is there a kit that has the larger ports? I have installed kits before and had to match the cases because they were smaller, but I have never had to match the cylinder. The kit by the way is a cast iron cylinder with an aluminum head. It seems that the power gained by more cc's would be offset by the smaller ports of the cylinder. The kit says it is the largest kit of it's kind that bolts directly into a stock VBB motor. Now I know that a stock VBB motor is a two-port motor and that makes sense if you are not comfortable porting cases, but this does not seem right as the LML motor is not two port.

No problem. I have the same kit (177.7), but I haven't installed it yet. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,
J

I know we can't throw down any shops on here, but they are insisting that the kit they sold my friend is the right one. When I pulled up the photo of the new one, the ports looked just like the LML motor that he has and I feel much better, the only thing is the shop is giving him a hard time regarding returning the wrong one.

I really don't know why it would be a problem. It's obvious that there are 2 kits and it could have easily been mixed up. I hope your friend gets it sorted out.

Kinda funny, as the pinasco 2-port setup has only been made recently available.

It's the 3-port one that's been out for years and years.
