Does anyone here have any experence running a 140/70- rear tyre on a MP3250 as oposed to the stock/suggested 130/70? If so are there any fitment issues to be concerned about, any negitive effects of a slightly larger tyre?

By my measurments it should fit, although tightly and I'm interested if anyone has done this and what their results/impressions are/were. Would you do it again, or are you back to the stock tyre size? Did the larger tyre and contact patch imporve handleing on spirited rides? Did it improve tyre life/milage? ( by life/milage I mean did you get more than 2000 miles from it before the wear bars were reached?)

More generally, has anyone tired getting S rated tyres as opposed to the P rated tyres, and does that change tyre life/milage at all?

I ran a couple on mine. Fits fine when in place. A little tight getting around the shock getting in place but not a big problem. Overall fit and ran fine. The longest lasting of the 10 tires I ran was a Heidenau K-61 140/70-12. Not just longes lasting until replacement but longest before the ride quality dimished.

I went back to 130 tires for the slight improvement in power with the smaller diameter. Minimal difference but I eventually sold it and went to 400 for more power on the rural highways I ride.

Many thanks for sharing your experence. Any chance you tried the Heidenau K64 -140/60-12? Should have the same overall diameter as the 130/70 tyre and thereby provide a simalar throttle response

No, only the K 61 and a Continental Zippy. I would expect any one of that size to fit. On the General forum many GTS owners have run the 140 size in different brands. Pretty much the same set up on that ride I believe.

An old thread but a lot of rear tire information here: https://modernvespa.com/forum/topic35817?highlight=rear+tire
