So I went to the AZ MVD today to attempt to register my scooter...AZ requires all out-of-state vehicles undergo an inspection. The lady (and myself) couldn't find the VIN #...Tilted the bike over a bit and looked underneath, in the glove box, under the seat, can't find it anywhere! It's a 2001 LT4...where am I supposed to be looking? She also said she'd need the Engine # and the Federal # (I may be misremembering that last one).

if i remember correctly you take the pet carrier out and look towards the front and on the inside "firewall" should be a metal sticker with the vin # along with the tire pressure info...

My complete mechanical ineptitude strikes again...I'll have to look and see how to take the thing out. By "Pet Carrier" you mean the plastic storage bin under the seat, I'm guessing?

Think it just lifts out from what I have read on here. People seem to take them out when they fill the gas tank.
But I have an MP3 so I am just going by what I have read. Wayne B |

Yup, it does in fact just lift out...I'm a dufus. I even tried that while looking around when I was @ the MVD. I see the VIN # under there as well...hopefully everything they need is under there Thanks!

Ok, so I found the VIN and the Federal Sticker (saying the scooter compiles with all federal regulations, yadda, yadda)...the last thing they're looking for is the Engine #....I'm not 100% sure what I'm looking for here...is it in the same location?

Would I be able to see it from under the seat, or would I have to be looking at it from somewhere else? Or is it different on each bike?

The 'engine prefix' should be on the VIN sticker.
The rest of the number is normally stamped on the transmission, just below where the shock absorber mount is. You might need to clean that area to spot it and read it though. A mirror helps. Add the two bits together - that's your engine number. |

...and to complete your learning process, the underseat storage area is called a "pet carrier" in response to the "NO PETS" sticker on it.
You should not carry cats, gerbils, mice, dogs, or elephants under the seat as it is too warm for them. I believe snakes may actually enjoy the warmth...but that's just me. People remove the carrier to eliminate the risk that any fuel overflow will flow into the carrier and ruin your tools.. or kill your pets ![]() |

Thanks for the help, I got through the inspection today with no troubles. However, I still have to get it emissions tested so I can get the registration taken care of. I do have the title in my possession now, however. Yay!
