I have been tooling around here today and think we need a shorthand term for a thread/discussion/argument that has been revived, or reposted (in a different way) in a new thread.

I would like to call these "meatloaf threads"

These are different than "zombie threads" wherein the subject had definitely been flogged into oblivion, but still gets resurrected until a moderator takes pity on us and locks it.

Meatloaf threads are like leftovers, they just get rewarmed in a different way, sort of like that holiday bird.
Eventually you still wind up with meatloaf.

A good example would be various personal gear threads, like 3/4 vs full-face helmets, etc.

So now when someone spots one, they only have to post 'meatloaf' and everyone gets the idea.

Thoughts?

It's not a bad idea BlueBelle, but what about newbies? This site is the best possible resource for any and all Vespa owners and for newbies in particular. It would be a shame if newbies were made to feel left out if someone just posted "meatloaf" with no further explanation. Many might just give up and leave. That's not what MV is all about.

I'd rather see these topics dealt with "somehow" in the Wiki. Don't ask me how, I haven't given it enough thought! But I don't think we should try to suppress discussions just because they have been hashed over many, many times. There's always something new on the market that even old timers are interested in!

I dunno... I usually end up re-warming my leftovers into something much more like goulash than meatloaf.

An amusing idea... just not sure if it would catch on. But you never know. "I busted the Lambretta" is fairly known now. Haven't got a clue when that one started.

Liane, I think you have a point about not wanting to discourage the newbies, still, technically being one myself. I am willing to cop to the fact that I asked the newbie question of 'can't find my helmet hook on my LX150'

But this was meant as a lighthearted jest.
And I should have specified what kind of meatloaf I meant. Razz emoticon

I will still diligently bash all zombie threads with my baseball bat or double barreled sawed off verbal shotgun.

I have seen this maybe a couple of times. What does "I busted the Lambretta" mean? I thought I had seen it on a soon-to-be locked thread.

Sure that works, but someone always seems to post a link to an old thread when someone asks a question here.

Hate to say it but these threads are cyclical and come back over and over regardless of what is done to deter them or what we call them. The Wiki was intended to curb some of this. Doesn't matter, they come back. For the most part, they're patiently tolerated and indulged.

Either way, not sure I'm down with calling them meatloaf. Meatloaf is delicious, even as a leftover.

Speaking of Meatloaf, he had a guest appearance on Ghost Hunters last night and I have to admit he looked a warmed over, but he was a lot of fun to watch.

I propose that all threads whining about patches will be referred to as L'il Smokies.

Furthermore, I propose that threads on Modern Vespa about threads on Modern Vespa be referred to as Vienna Sausages.

We have officially crossed over into the realm of Zombie thread due to the innumerable joke variations on 'meatloaf, kielbassa, sausages", etc.

Next we'll have a vote on 'snausages' for thread names. Razz emoticon
