They say that Polish technical innovation idea died. We haven't got anyn car nor motorcycle brand known worldwide. Luckily there still exist fanatics that rescue the honor of our native motorization.
One of them is Michal Gryt - a producer of G.M. Motowheel - a three wheel scooter for the disabled. As teh Swiat Motocykli magazine says, the idea came few years ago when travelled to Spain. He was a witness of disabled Sevilla fan crash, who attached his wheelchair to his scooter in order to make it to the socker game faster. When Mr. Gryt went back to Poland, he started to work on the vehicle that would improve lives of people on wheelchairs. After three years of design work, applying for permissions and certificates and after he patented his idea, now we can admire the new vehicle.
You probably think it's just one and a half of Puaggio scooter connected with a wheelchair platform. The construction seems simple just for the first sight. If we look closer however, we'll notice some innovative solutions. The basic one is the ramp, opened with remote control. When we make it on the platform, the dedicated hooks that are mounted to the wheelchair will lock it unmovable. Not less important is electricial reverse gear and a handbrake. They both make parking extremely easy. To provide the electricial equipment work, the scooter comes with a battery charger so that we could plug it into the outlet for the night.
Now the best part. Because the engine is only 50 ccm, we do not need driving licence to be able to operate it. The only thing we need is helmet and... not so little money. At the manufacturer the scooter's base price is 24400 zl (about $8100). It's quite much but still - let's congratulate Mr. Gryt this great idea. French and German already appreciated it and probably the export will start soon.
