The clue is in the map on the mural. Helps if you are traveling North or Eastbound....... Welcome to the game! |

Sure Rusty, bring it! I was playing with myself for the longest time. I'm game!
Especially while it's still light longer..... Thanks for asking! ~RobynS |

Good deal. The last tag standing is a bit out of my way, but I should be able to get it in the next day or two.
I'm in the northwest corner of the Long Beach Tag playground, but get down to Long Beach a few times a month for LBASG rides. This'll be an interesting way to get more familiar with that area. |

It's alive. ALIVE!!
(Ok, that was a bit over the top.) Anyhow, the tag was at Orange and Wardlow. Nifty neighborhood over there, too. |

I expected this would be a bit obscure to anyone who hadn't actually been there -- this view is not visible from surrounding roads.
So, a hint: The lake is within a Los Angeles City park, and I took the picture on my way to Long Beach to get the previous tag. |

Further hint/clarification:
It is a single body of water, and the photo does not include all of it. It extends into woodlands beyond the rise in the right middle distance, and becomes marsh (mostly dry) out of frame to the right. For scale, the buildings in the distance are about half a mile away and 4-6 stories tall. |

More Hintage
The body of water is Lake Machado.
This is almost the reverse angle of the tag photo, taken from the Wikipedia article on Harbor City. The gazebo-esque awnings that I took the tag photo from are hidden (probably -- I'm not quite sure of the angle) by the abandoned dock and remnants of the observation deck at the right edge of this photo. ⚠️ Last edited by Rusty J on UTC; edited 2 times

...And the refinery/tank farm in the distance there, is notable for this seasonal landmark (The faces aren't painted on it yet, but it's orange year-round):

dare I breathe some life into another scooter tag area? If I hijack two tags does that make me a tag-ho?

No need to hijack if the tag is still out there, which it is. Just go get the tag and post the next.
Hijacking is only acceptable if someone has tagged and doesn't post the next one. Go find the previous tag, then the floor is yours. I'm working too much and can't get there... although I drove right by in my car last week...grrrr.... ~R |

I drove around trying to find this spot! There was a carnival going on there and I never did find the right spot. I did find the new tag and took a photo, but I cannot re-up in that area until next week, so I will wait to see if another adventurer wants to snag it.

Beach Boys' House Monument, Hawthorne
It's a marker -- the actual site is under the 105 freeway behind it.
I'll try not to take as long to post a new tag this time as I did on the Los Angeles one. 20 feet north of this point and you'd have busted the boundary of the Long Beach Tag zone! :D

What happened to the sun?? Not to mention some pig took the parking slot.
On the way home under grey skys I stopped at a place I had seen for decades and have finally looked inside. It's free. Had to take three pictures and splice together make the wall. |

Weather permitting, I have a pretext to head out that way tomorrow afternoon. Is anyone else interested in claiming this one?

I'd actually forgotten about this one, and was sure someone else had picked it up. Seeing as they haven't...

Twenty-some-odd years ago, I was within two miles of there on a daily basis -- but the only planes I knew about in that area at the time were launched by winches or hi-starts (oh, occasionally you'd see one with an electric motor, but they were the exception).
Also, since your last clue makes this not a spoiler, the pretext I had for going that way on December 1st was this: 11th Annual XMas Lights Ride & Party - Pre-Meetup However, due to the inclement weather, I just went straight to Torrance instead of out to Lakewood and then back. We still got rained on, but it was fun nonetheless. |
