Hello, everybody!
My name is Andis and I'm from Latvia, its a small country in the eastern Europe on the coast of Baltic sea, those who are interested can try to find it on the map
I have been reading modernvespa for couple of months now and I find it very helpful and interesting. Thanks to everyone for that!
In the beginning of May I bought Vespa PX 125E 1987, but engine is from 1984, at least vin number says so. It was in drivable condition, started with kik-start, electric starter engine had been removed. The bill of lading showed that this Vespa had come from France, but in the middle it had been kept in Lithuania (its neighbor country) for some time. Lithuania in this region is well known for the same reasons as Indonesia, Thailand and other Vespa Bodge producing countries are well known on this forum only that Lithuanian professionals are mostly working on cars. Because of this I was ready that there will come out some interesting things and they came, see pictures below. Of course, you can ask than why I bought in the first time, my answer is, I wanted something to do in winter and the price was ok.
For me it's a first scooter, first Vespa and first project, good place to start I hope I will find all the answer her, if not than you can wait some questions
First are some pictures of how it looked when I got it, I used it like that for whole summer, I mean European summer Speedo gear was missing so couldn't see how fast I'm going, but friends who were riding along whit me on their bikes said that my top speed was 99Km/h, it was with almost full throttle, but the engine didn't sound happy what is normal I guess.
Further you can see some pictures of disassembling process and pretty nasty rust In some vital points
