My goal for this trip was not really sightseeing, but rather to test myself and my scooter to see how we'd hold up on a string of long distance riding days, in preparation for maybe running the Scooter Cannonball next year.
I ride a 2006 BV250, the carbureted and plastic step sister to the GTS. (Some would say the ugly step sister, but I she suits me just fine). I had just put a fresh belt and rollers on a couple hundred miles back and recently added some electrical goodies (Stebel, turn signal beeper, Datel voltmeter). Managed to install a fresh battery over the weekend before the trip. Time to see how everything will hold up.
I started off at 7:30 this morning form just southwest of Baltimore. Did a highway run on I-70 W to Frederick, then hopped on 340 to Harpers Ferry, WV. Continued on down to Front Royal and the start of Skyline Drive. Plenty of deer out, but very few tourists. I felt like I had the place to myself. Fueled up in Front Royal and had a pleasant, though slow (35 MPH) trip down the 100+ miles of Skyline Drive. A quick detour to Waynesboro, VA to gas up, then it was on to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Made it down to Roanoke, VA.
Total mileage today: 352 miles.
The bike and all my gear held up great. More on that later. Not too much time to stop and smell the roses, But I'll try and email some pics to this thread.
