In my Kind City, roads with a speed limited of 35 mph has an actual traffic flow of 45 to 50 mph depending on the time of day. Riding at 35 on this road is dangerous for everyone. Including me. After a cager has been frustrated following a slow scooter a couple of miles back, they get to me. When they see me they assume I am a slow dog just like the scooter that pissed them off a few miles back. So they make a stupid move to get around me. As well they should. Who wants to follow a scooter that can not keep up with traffic However, they put my life in danger.

Most folks in my city who ride 50s are kids or DUI scooterist on slow junk. Thus they get treated like kids and drunks on slow junk.

If you get a 50, don't plan on riding on anything but lightly traveled side streets. And please stay off the roads that I ride on.

Go visit Phil at Pride of Cleveland Scooters. He has an awesome selection and will have something for you to look at. He's a great guy who will help you pick a scooter that is appropriate for your needs.

I live on a sea island in South Carolina. It's the flattest place on earth. My residential community does not allow scooters or motorcycles over 50cc. My LX50 gets me everywhere I need to go (~42mph max). Island-wide speed limits are low (25-40 mph) so the LX50 is perfect for short trips, errands, trips to beach and boat. I love the 100 mpg and the mileage and engine wear and tear saved on family cars. The Vespa quality is amazing and I couldn't be happier.

If I lived in a place like that I would buy a 150 and change the emblems to 50cc.

Believe me I've thought of that but in SC anything under 50 CC gets a MOPED plate, over gets a regular motorcycle plate. I'm stuck unless I want to keep changing plates when I leave the neighborhood streets. Maybe I can get a magnetic plate holder and quick switch the plate
