Modern Vespa

This is a question for Typhoon owners or whoever has an answer. I have the YB4L-B but I heard of the YB9-B as a replacement. Considering the price, is the latter a better battery?

YB4L-B is an wet bath type and if YB9-B is an AGM it would definitely an improvement IMO.

But, they are different sizes and polarity....

Yuasa catalogue lists YTX4L-BS maintenance free as a replacement but it is sized slightly different and I don't know your scoot well enough to know if it;s a good fit

Why recommend an acid bath over a AGM?

Did you even think about the orientation of the terminals? Sheesh.

To the OP - get the highest cranking amps (often directly related to the AH capacity) battery you can that will fit, and as Tom has suggested, an AGM one would be better for daily use and longevity. Not an essential point though as if you take good care of a wet battery it can last just as long - just that AGM batteries can take a little (not a lot) more neglect.

The YB9-B is actually a good fit, size-wise, if not a bit tight. The YB4L-B must have been rattling about in the battery compartment although I never really noticed. Thanks for the technical advise everyone. The comparison chart was especially helpful.
