I took my 300 in for some warranty work and they gave me a brand spanking new Triumph Scrambler! I had never ridden one, and it was a blast. I might have it for a few days until they fix Vespa.

Cool! Looks like fun, but I'll still bet you'll be glad to have your 300 back.

I think you are right! Carving through traffic on the 300 is seamless. Though it will be nice if I get to keep the scrambler for a couple days to get a good comparison. I always thought it would be nice to have a motorcycle for a 2nd bike for longer highway trips. BTW, this was my first ride on a motorcycle. Shifting was easy to pick up, but using the foot brake took some getting used to.

I like everything about that bike but the exhaust. They should have run them down low.

they do.
it's called the bonneville.

the scrambler is a throw back to the old CL honda that was a "dual-sport" before it was called dual sport.

btw, they're balls fast, and a blast to ride.

best,

Hell yes. Those pipes are where they should be, given the type of bike. Anything lower would be as communally "wrong" as a cowboy wearing a baseball cap.

Would love to hear your comparisions after you've spent a bit of time on the Scrambler. I'm thinking seriously about trading my GTS250ie for a Scrambler / Bonnie / Thruxton.
The matt green is my current dream.

Would love to have a Triumph and Vespa, but cant afford to keep both. Not an easy decision to make.

How does that work exactly? (a loaner?)

A bike to use while yours is being repaired. As long as you have insurance and a valid license, a lot of shops will have them available. I actually asked for a Vespa loaner, but this is all they available. Poor me.

I meant how did you pull off getting a loaner (as opposed to the definition) as shops here don't do that. I'd LOVE to get a Mana as a loaner when I take my scarabeo in...

You probably could, Bet the Harley doesn't have EFI,
If I had a Harley...I'd trade it for a Triumph in a milli second.

Brilaz, that looks very similar to my hubsters 1970 Suzuki Titan 500 III. This bike was purchased by my dad in late 1970. Every thing is original, including the redline tires which have been replaced. It has about 5500 miles on it.

Wow, that is similar, right down to the spoked rims. Great looking bike and low miles!

got my 300 back
They fixed my 300, so it was around a 2 week loaner. The Scrambler was great fun. I wish the weather hadn't been so miserable. It would have been nice to take some longer rides with it, but I had fun commuting on it.

My first reaction after getting back on the 300 was that it felt like a toy in comparison. However, after a while, I was lane splitting and zipping around traffic in a way I didn't feel comfortable doing on the scrambler. I took the 300 straight out shopping in the rain and dry legs and storage were much appreciated.

I can see acquiring something like the scrambler at some point. I really did enjoy the feel of power and stability provided by the 900cc engine, extra weight and large wheels. However, I really did miss the 300 and am super stoked to have it back again.
