Have any of you californian scooterists tried using the "McCuff No-Spill Motorcycle Filler" product? I got one at the motorcycle show a few weeks ago, and the first time I used it I ended up spraying gas all over myself because the pump never cut off. According to the isntructions it's supposed to trigger the automatic pump shutoff, but it didn't.
Here's what they look like:

Background for those of you that dont' know what I'm talking about: In California, every gas pump has one of those annoying "anti-evaporation" things on the end of the fuel filler nozzle, and they must be retracted in order for the pump to actually start pumping gas into your tank. It's a pain, because you invariably end up with your fingers smelling of gas, plus there's no back-pressure so the pump doesn't know your tank is full, and if you don't watch you'll end up pumping gas all over the outside of your scooter/motorcycle. So many companies sell doughnut-shaped inserts that you put over your gas fill hole, and insert the pump filler thru it, and it automatically retracts the anti-evaporation nozzle thingy.
Any advice on how to use it properly would be appreciated. Or is it just a scam and I shouldn't bother?
Thanks.
