I would guess that you have a circuit in the carb blocked. When you say you cleaned the carb twice, did you take if apart and put in a "kit"? It should be taken to pieces and cleaned in solvent. All the jets removed and cleaned and blow air through them (don't put any object into the jets to clean them out). Put in a kit which consists of O rings and sometimes jets. Make sure the slide slides freely.

Here is an old fashioned method that works about half the time.

Start the engine and let it warm up and idle. Run it, on the stand, as fast as it will go if it won't go fast. Spray aerosol carb cleaned into the throat of the carb slowly enough that you don't stall the engine. There will be lots of white smoke so don't do this indoors. After doing this for a minute or two, increase the carb cleaner into the carb until you choke it and it stops running. Let it sit for and hour or so. Now pull the plug and clean it, and get excess fluid out of the cylinder. Start the engine, will be difficult but keep trying. If that solved the problem, fine. If not, do it again. Like I said this only works about half the time. (There are those who say that this method will dilute the lube oil and runs the risk of damaging the engine. I have done it a bunch and I don't think I ever damaged anything. But then I am a kind of jack leg mechanic.)

go to http://www.scooterwest.com/home for parts

Call them and talk to Steve or Max. They have lots more parts than what shows on their site.

before trying the above mentioned "trick", I'd replace the fuel tap, it has a filter built into it, my guess that might be your problem, its about $30. I was in similar situation, bought an '03 with only 80 miles although it ran fine but hard cold starting. Hmm, now when I think abou it. As I still dont know much about the CVT (Im learning, never worked on one before), maybe the roller weights or belt are stuck from sitting so long? Then again, I dont know, I have worked on engines and regular transmission previously but never on CVT's.

You are right, it could well be the fuel tap, but a little spray on love is quicker and cheaper. A load of Sea Foam in the gas might help with the fuel tap too. If even a little gas is getting through pouring in some condiments is the quick and cheap thing I would do first.

the bike starts first button idles fine revs fine an just to hear it rev you would think no problem ,but drop it off the stand an its like a chain saw when you lay the bar on the tree he just goes to nothing 12 mph max no matter what its like there is something holding it back..................

I confess I always use soft fuse wire to do this - as long as the wire you use is a lot softer than the jet metal there's no problem.

The admonition is really against those who use sewing needles and the like - they usually just completely upset the jet by widening it.

What Jimc said. I will occasionally use the plastic bristle off a stiff bursh which can't harm the soft brass jet opening, but nothing metal. If its really screwed up and I am going to have to buy a jet anyway I may try some vigorous poking around, but I realize I might ruin it.

Check all connections to the CDI and coil and spark plug.........
Check all connections to carb....
I also had that problem when I took out the rollers and put them back in....wrong!
If all of that doesn't do anything....I would get a new fuel tap...and try it....
