Modern Vespa

I am now officially apart of this message board considering I put down 3000 on a used gt200 yesterday. Which was conveniently my birthday as well! I have no pictures yet but I will as soon as I can. The back reflector is coming off, can I just pop it all the way off without damaging anything on the bike itself?

Glad to hear you found something! You'll be very happy with the GT.

As for the reflector, look at the inside. There might be some plastic tabs holding it on. Try to cut those or push them out from the inside as not to damage the paint on the outside. You may be left with some holes for which there are a variety of cover ups.

My birthday is this tuesday (the 8th) and my husband surprized me two weeks ago with a vespa lxv.....i'm glad he surprized me because i would have been out of my mind waiting! <g>

Lot's of folks own the GT200 series...I'm one of them.

The reflector (rear right) had one of the pins broken (used putty to secure)...I simply ended up removing the three remaining reflections (eventually lost the right rear). I kept them when I need to go in to get my Safety Inspection.

Removing them aren't that difficult. Keep in mind that the pins that go are "plastic" and will break if not handled properly. There's a friction washer holding the pin in place.

For the rear relectors...remove the faring and then removed the reflector.
I used a putty knife (flat surface) and pushed the pin until I had enough working room...I then snipped the washer off and removed the reflector. I removed the front by reaching behind the fender and used the putty knife to accomplish same.

I then bought a set of plugs from Motorsports and installed them...these are black plugs and you may want to get paint to match. You can probably get similar plugs at Home Depot / hardware store.

You may want to consider affixing some sort of reflective tape that you can install at your descretion (i.e. rear rack side; red...side mirror stems; silver/white).
