it rained here in LA.

todays its cold and sunny.

i went out to open the small "habitat" i've created next to my house for the scooter.....

I unzipped the winter protector I keep the scooter in , and down drops a black widow.

i just sprayed the whole scooter with home defense, and wiped it down.

did I mention I HATE spiders.

Wow !!!- my kids would love that - they watch all the nature programmes for that sort of action. Spiders in England just don't have that sort of presence or attitude:D

I saw a spider here in Michigan once. It was scary!

I grew up in Florida and between the damn cockroaches, palmetto bugs and banana spiders (huge), I really don't mind the cold weather up here.

Don't those those black widow just give you a nasty nip? How many people die each year from black widow bites? I bet more people get killed from dog attacks every year than little bity spider bites. How many people die from scooter accidents every year? Does that stop you from enjoying a ride?
Lettum live live folks, they're just trying to get on like everything else in this world. I was werkin in the shed on the old bomb scooter I have a month or two ago and this scratching seemed to get louder and louder, I went outside and found this.

oh HEEEEEELLLLLLLLL NO>

If I'm riding down Venice blvd, doing 60 mph and i feel a "nip", or look down at a fudge-ing blackwidow???

that would CAUSE a crash.

go google black widow spider bite.... and see for yourself....

and the "huntsman" in your picture, looks more like a "plastico" spider.

Brown Recluses are worse...

Still the widow has a nasty bite..

X-rayed a deer hunter who got bit near his collar bone... the swelling broke the bone and then wouldn't set correctly, also messed up the shoulder.

I hear mothballs in an enclosed environment keeps almost all critters away... might toss some of those in when you park.

Yeah, when I first bought my house, we had a run of brown recluses. I use clear shipping tape to catch them. That way I can see the violin on the back. We now get someone to spray every six months and WALLAH...

My co-worker got bit on the arm by a brown recluse, and he needed to be put on strong steroids to stop it from taking his arm.

The only good thing about brown recluses is they catch alot of other bugs. Plus they aren't agressive. The bits CAN kill, but that happens rarely

I hear you Aussie MVers have a spider that is not only agressive, it has a bite that will kill you a good percentage of the time. Is it the Funnel Web Spider or something like that?

Brown Recluses are real nasty they are un heard of in Mass. but a co worker was insulating his new house with his wife. Well to make a long story short the wife got bitten and now has a 5'' x1"deep hole in the center of her back. The spider must have come in with the southern wood they say...

Moth balls last longer then dryer sheets and also keep the mice out somtimes...

How many people die from spide bites every year worldwide? They are frightening to look at but really in the scheme of things spiders rate up there with getting struck by lightning and alien abduction, there are people who know somebody who's friend got bitten. If you look at the peole who die in traffic accidents that doesn't discourage most of us from riding. Get a grip folks, spiders do their job like everything else in this world. Letum live.

So using your logic if a neighbor who has a young child (a few children get mauled/attacked, even killed by dogs a year) would be within his rites to exterminate your dogs?
You don't need pity, you are the Foo!

These brown widows are are legitimate pests. I've always let spiders live. I even leave a few house spiders in my windows to catch all the flies in the summer. They do a fantastic job.

The brown widows are an invasive species new to this region as of about 6 years ago. They were brought over from another country and are taking over, spreading rapidly, and displacing domestic spiders. They are threatening the black widow population. If I let them go, there will be a web every foot in every corner. There will be literally thousands of them. I'm not joking. In these instances, I don' t have a problem limiting their populations.

I've had a brown widow living in my scooter's battery compartment for a while and I finally killed it. Brown Recluses are probably the worst though, I knew a guy that got bit in the thigh and it dissolved all the muscles & stuff and he had about a yard of gauze shoved into the cavity it was so big. Bleh emoticon

Huntsman spiders are another kind we have TONS of here in FL. They are gigantic (not house size, but very large). and they are ultra creepy because they're really fast and jerky and they stare at you and when you try to smash them they jump at you! They are definitely my least favorite spider.
