Just joined recently and need some information on rebuilding a salvage MP3 500.

I searched the forum but was unable to find answers to my questions.

It appears that data fault codes may be stored in the ECU, as near as I can tell from the service manual, is there a way to clear these other than the factory computer tool? I have been unable to fire the unit yet, since while waiting for salvage to clear, someone stole the fuel pump. So in essence I really don't know if I have a problem with this or not, but just want to be prepared in case.

In regards to the fuel pump does anyone know of any totaled units laying around that I can purchase one from, or do have a cross reference to other models or autos? They are way expensive new!

Other items I will be needing are front turn signals, mirrors, and fuel door latch. Anyone know or have any of this stuff laying around.

This thing looks like it will be great fun to get back on the road and cannot wait until spring here in northern Minnesota in order to try it out.

Thanks for such a great resource.

About the only things this scooter has in common with others is the light bulbs, the rims, the tires, and the air you put inside them. You could do a search for some of the others who recently wrecked and PM them so you could contact their insurance and purchase it.

Good Luck

Athen Scooter Company is a US distributor of the parts for the 500...you can order any nut/bolt/item off the bike there. May be a good option if you can't find a salvaged one.

finding a bone yard that has one will be hard but do able. The 500 engine is the master series and you should be able to use the same parts off a BV500 if you find one of those wrecked.
the fuel door is the same on all mp3's turn signals are the 500 only. But you could find an aftermarket type and replace both fronts of both rears for a differeent look. Some have tried LED style.
mirrors pretty much the same answer as turn signals. find some aftermarket.
