Modern Vespa

Is there a correlation between scooter riding and your job? If this thread hasn't been done before (I searched and couldn't find one) post what you do for a living if you don't mind. Do you ride your scooter to work each day, or is it just for pleasure riding?

After retiring from a 20 year career in IT (big blue) I now work 20 hours a week for a church, and I also have a piano studio with 32 students. Church is only 3 miles from my house, so I have a short commute and ride every day possible.

I spend my days and nights in a control room, as a Control room operator for power generation, I also spent 6 years as a refinery operator in control

Job 1: Hospital Administrator for the four legged patients.

Mortgage - primarily Reverse Mortgages.

Prior to that I managed a Marina for 15 + years.on the Chesapeake Bay.

Day job? When I'm not in the studio painting (scottbrodie.com), I teach painting and drawing at The College of Saint Rose, here, in Albany, NY. This is my 25th year. Officially: Associate Professor of Art.

Until this darn snow gummed up the works, I was riding every day to work. There are some motorcycles around the campus, but I'm the goofy professor with the scooter.

Yeah, this has been done before, but there have been a lot of new menbers since then.

Yacht charter broker. I sell sailing and motor yacht vacations in the beautiful British Virgin islands. (I work out of the house and my scooters are now my sole transport.)

Senior Lecturer in Photographic Theory and Criticism in simple english: a university bod. i'm also a writer - my first book was published about a year ago, and the next one is in the works. i do a lot of other writing for magazines, journals, and various edited collections. my subject areas are a little, um, 'diverse' - i write about landscape, fashion photography, videogames (with a focus on hardware), and history of technology. in a previous life i made a living making photographs - i'm slowly returning to that.

my scooter is the only motorized vehicle i own. i ride to work every day unless there's ice or snow on the roads.

I graduated from med school in 2008 and now am a PGY-2 diagnostic radiology resident.

cool, radiology is a great specialty. Are you thinking about doing interventional radiology, it seems to be what most residents are doing nowadays. I like doing procedures and that would have been fun.

Oh a villa in the south of France sounds like a great idea. I was thinking about using my moderator's salary to buy one of those suites on a residential cruise ship so I could go on a cruise whenever I wanted.

i have been an electrician for fifteen years. before that, i worked a couple years at a cheesecake shop in a bad neighborhood in detroit.

Unemployed and living on US taxpayer provided paychecks. Ride to a local taverna or coffee shop every day and wait for other MVers to come and ride with us.

Prior to my current job, I was a Marine for 6 years, flew for the Army for 29 years, and was an Assoc Prof for 8 years. Regularly rode a Vespa to work then as well - the entire time.

Retired cop (Lieutenant) now in full time ministry as the Administrative Minister at a multi-campus Christian Church.

I'm a fair weather rider and today with snow blowing, wind gusts up to 50 mph and wind chills in the 10 degree range, I can assure you I didn't ride the GTS250.

I work for a Canadian Governmental research agency. We do immunology and vaccine work. I specialize in making pretty pictures to confuse my employers.
For 3 seasons a year the Scooter is my transport.

I'm a doctoral student studying cognitive neuroscience - specifically memory and navigation.

I live about 2/3 a mile from the lab, so I walk to "work" usually. My first scoot was purchased when I lived farther away. Now they are used solely for pleasure and errands

Custom ukulele builder. Retired chief of the research group at the Federal Communications Commission Laboratory.

Commute 13 steps down to the basement workshop. Scooter is used year-'round mostly for errand-running and pleasure, although that is 90% of my motorized transit... seldom use my only cage.

I'm a risk control consultant for an insurance company. I'm the eyes and ears for the underwriters for business insurance and the "free" safety consultant for our insured's.

I work out of my house, and travel to insured's two-three times a week. typically too far for me to ride my scooter. plus, i still need to get that permit.....

Software Developer, Currently consulting for an automotive manufacture that makes high end navigation systems. I am writing shop floor traceability systems.

Simple English; I write software that communicates with hardware. I extract data from testers that perform system tests on the navigation units and process the data and post it on a web site so production engineering can analyze the data.

I ride my scoot everyday unless it rains or I need to take the cage.

I have mostly ridden motorcycles but got a scooter because I like the extra storage for commuting.

I enjoy tinkering with technology and yes I am a geek.
