I ride my little silver 197cc GT to work and continue to be surprised by the positive(?!?) responses. Most of the guys in that line of work have self-image issues, seeking out the loudest of Harleys, most expensive Italian sport bikes, or the fastest of the Japanese sport bikes.
I ride either my Vespa GT200 into work, Suzuki Bandit, or Toyota Camry. I'm a Correctional Officer in the prison system (CDCR). ⚠️ Last edited by CA waspn on UTC; edited 2 times

I am retiring this July after working 41 years with the same company. I started in 1969 as a marine biologist doing water polution testing at a large manufacturing facility. I'm ending as VP sales and marketing. I have had a variety of very interesting assignments and have traveled to some incredible places as I work for an international company. I met my beautiful wife at work. She worked for the company for 28 years and has been retired for 10 years. I know this is very unusual but it worked just fine for us. I can't wait for July so that I can ride my Vespa any time I want.

Went to Culinary school. Started out as a chef.
Then I built a Mustang race car. I met a guy who had a business and started selling parts for mustangs. www.pro50.com Worked there for 12 years. Now I am a fleet mechanic working primarily on fords and work at Napa auto parts as a sales rep. Started riding a 1983 Honda Aero 2 years ago. Just got my first Vespa. My car barely moves at this point. |

I am a news photographer for a tv station in Kansas City. That means shooting stories, editing them and running a live truck. In the future I will also be a reporter. Just keep getting more jobs to do for the same "wonderful" pay. Some days it is a good job, not sure I could sit behind a desk all day after doing this for 20 years.

I'm in sales, ebay , Craig's list etc etc etc. I started out selling records (I am a vinyl junkie & managed record stores for 15 years) & music memorabilia. The amount of money some people will spend on punk rock fliers I peeled off of telephone poles is simply amazing. After I unloaded enough music to make my apartment a livable space again I moved on to other things. I'm a long time thrift store maniac & now I sell all kinds of stuff, from the collectible to the mundane. Garage sale season is upon me now, so I must hop on the LX & prowl the neighborhoods

DMV
I now have been working at the DMV for 20½ years. I started as an evaluator on cars trucks buses and motorcycles, meaning I was the guy telling people if they could drive or not. Now have been working in the office for 10 years. Before that worked in driving schools for 15 years. I'm planning to pack it up in 3½ years. I work a block from where I live so I walk to work. My wife drives the cage (2005 Hyundai Accent)
My hobby will be part of my pension plan : I have a shop where I repair computers. My first bike was Circa 1965 GS 160 or was it a SS 180 (this is what other members here have told me) GS or SS after that I had many models of bikes (650 Bonnie, BMW 500 (that came back from a 1½ year trip thru europe), Hondas CB 360 and XL 500 (that one took me from Montreal to Tierra del Fuego) and 3 different Goldwings and now riding a 2007 GTS250 bought last year brand new in the showroom. I was able to buy that after I sold my old vintage (1941 Indian) last year. |

I can't believe I missed this thread the first time....
Public Health Nurse for Pediatric Lead Poisoning doing case management, investigations and inspections as well as a Healthy Homes Specialist/Indoor Air Quality Inspector. Got bored being the charge of cardiac/medical ICU for 18 years. I also own and manage rental residential property in a college town-therefore "jack of all trades"; and yes, I use Ridgid pipe cutting machines, but none as new as this... ![]() Cant ride to the rentals....they might think I'm having too much fun or making too much money (and can't carry the tools/equipment); ride to the health department whenever I can, but avoid ice and rain. The diversity on this site explains why I find it so facinating and informative!!! |

I'm a self-employed fine art installer. I hang expensive pictures for rich people and, on a good day, I get to rig big sculptures with a crane.
I have a Sprinter van for my work that is PERFECT for hauling scooters. It has "airline track" embedded in the floor, so hooking up ratchet straps is really easy. I bought my scooter from a client one day; just hauled it away. |

I worked in live theatre for many years as a stage manager, lighting guy, stuff like that. I also have been making theatre masks and puppets for schools, and private collections for the past 20 years or so. Working on another puppet show for adults at the moment and recently finished a bunch of masks for a University theatre department here in Canada. |
