this has been discussed before but I wanted to give an update that the sealed yuasa ytz7s has been working very nicely in the px, I use some soft foam in the compartment to compensate for the slightly smaller size battery, but it seem to have plenty of power for the electric start and I can run the mod spot for several hours also and only notice a slight dip in the attitude of the electric starter. In all a very nice way to get rid of the old school battery

Does your spare cover fit OK with this battery? That was always a problem I ran into when running batteries with a greater depth dimension. Maybe the spare cover is different on later bikes since they often use the larger YB9-B anyway.

Battery Type: YTZ7S
Dimensions: 4.4375" x 2.75" x 4.125"
Metric Dimensions: 113mm x 70mm x 105mm

Battery Type: 12N5.5-3B
Dimensions: 5.3125" x 2.375" x 5.125"
Metric Dimensions: 135mm x 60mm x 130mm

Interesting...

Looking at the pics of yuasa ytz7s on-line it looks wider(well, fatter) than the stock batteries for P's, almost like it wouldn't fit. But, you saying you have to ad foam? I must be looking at the wrong links.

Can you please post a pic of your set up when you get a second?

EDIT: Similar thought to what HP was typing at the same time....

Im lousy with pics guys sorry, the ytz is shorter on the sides and is a bit wider. The foam makes up for the lack of length and I use it on the sides and bottom of the battery compartment. I use the spare on a back rest carrier so I have not tried it as intended, it may be an issue I dont know. Also I failed to mention the polarity is reversed, but my cables are long enough to make it work, or you can try turning the battery around on install.
