Thanks to the answers to my tire mileage question in this thread
Tire pic I didn't try to stretch the rear tire to 3000 miles, but have a new one on at 2700. That is a good thing as we are finally getting some rain which will mean wet roads.

Yeah... I'd have to agree. That tire looks like it was "done" around 2000 miles. My skin is worth way more then a $50 scooter tire.
What's this mark on your new tire? Looks like a cut... ![]() |

I thought all the USA Supers came with Pirelli GTS24 tires? What make/model tires came on your scoot new? Wonder if someone at the dealer pulled a fast one before you bought it swapping good tires for cheap ones? I can't tell by the tread pattern but it looks like a generic tire brand. Please update us.

Holy sh** Haha! Dude/Girl change that thing now!
That tire doesn't look like it has a lot of tread on it new. Im running zippy1s and they have a pretty deep groove, almost twice as deep as those I would say. |

I was looking at his new tire thinking that it was a picture of the tire when the bike was new..... Yeah the bald tire is a GTS24
I'll actually slap myself for that dumb mistake. His replacement however looks really, cheap. If he killed a GTS24 that fast this tire will last him 500 miles ⚠️ Last edited by VEZPA on UTC; edited 2 times

We're talking about the old one, not the new - no-one claimed they were the same make. </sigh> |

The first
I was also looking at the first tire thinking what a wierd tread, then when I scrold down, I saw the worn tire, You waited way too long, Is the new tire a Shinko? If it is then VEZPA is correct that it will not last very long. I had some bad experiences with Shinko tires with my ET4. Blow-outs a many.

To answer some questions.
Yes, it was the original equipment Pirelli GTS24 with 2700 miles (total on scoot since new) on it. The replacement is a Hutchinson Funzy 130/70x12. The circled area is part of the tread design, not a cut. Some explanations are in order. Yes the original tire is well worn. However, following other tire wear threads it seemed that the Pirellis were good for quite a bit more mileage than I got, so I was wondering if those mileages went down as far as this tire went wear wise. Apparently not so. I put about 2000 miles on the tire of the 2700 total so am rather disappointed in the mileage it went for. I have posted the pic. so others (new owners/members etc.) might see what an over-worn tire looks like. I also kept the pressure at 29 psi per the manual with a combination of one and two up riding. I had earlier posted an inquiry on the Hutchinson Funzy with inconclusive responses. The tire is DOT approved, L rated which exceeds the speeds I ride. So far with only 10 miles on it, I don't really notice any difference in feel or handling. I would be surprised if the mileage out of it is much worse than the Pirelli if at all. It looks like a quality tire. The scoot does not seem to have any handling or ride anomalies that would explain what seems like rapid tire wear compared to other rider's reports on the Pirellis (ie. see pic. in VEZPA's post referenced in the first post above). As I mentioned in that thread I seem to get better wear on my Rally with its 10" wheels. |

Has anyone else heard of Hutchinson tires?
Funzy. Can't say I would put that on my Super. Do you feel safe with that on there? |

From one "online" review I could find of the Funzy...
Thankfully the machine comes with a pair of pencil eraser soft Hutchinson Funzy tyres providing all the grip needed to make the most of this rock steady and razor sharp beam frame. All the other comments I read gave no indication at all that there is anything "unsafe" about this tire. It seems to be a popular choice with the "go fast" crowd. That means a soft compound, good grip, and short life span. -Craig |
