PS the small blue hi viz on the bottom of the stand is police grade hi viz with the honeycomb pattern. As you can see it is much brighter and catches light from all angles , the rest is commercial grade . was "told" that you are not allowed blue hi viz on a bike in UK ,only police etc well my friends and I had a bike ride last week and nothing was said!!!

I am huge in LED and HID stuff!

stroll down all the way and you will see some night light pics. I got all the waterproof flexible led strips from ebay. Go get a brakelight modulator that will make you feel safer when cages r behind you!

I mostly ride in the city and well lit highways but I could see the need for more lighting in dark rural areas. You need to be careful though as I think the GTS can only support like an extra 100 watts before you start to put stress on the stator. Someone can post the exact numbers I'm sure. If you add one light I would go with a 55/60 buld. If you go with 2 extra lights I would go with 35 watt bulbs. That way you won't have to worry about overload the system, especially if you plan on using other accessory electric items on your scoot. Replacing regular bulbs with LEDs will also free up some more watts as well for other things.

true!

that is other reason why I replaced all stock for HID and all LEDs around the bike...

signal bulbs r the last thing I need to replace!

I got all LEDs and HID on my burgman 400 and never worry about overload with watts while I charge my iphone, plug in with my gerbings heated gloves, gps and whatever

the stock vespa headlight is very bright and can be seen better then most newer sport bikes. can some one post a LED bulb list for the GTS 250

I'm not a fan of HID since you only have one light and if you lose it at night your out of luck

(No Hi/Lo beam just one)

Why don't GTS owners wire the legshield lights to work as running lights as they do (stock) on the LX?

Very good for visibility. Gives you that triangle of light.

One reason is that the GTS already has a running light in the horncast that seems to add to the visibility reasonably well. IIRC, there's also some regulation about motorcycles being limited to three headlights, but I might be hallucinating that bit.

Just because you hallucinated it, doesn't mean it's not true.

The max. number of front-facing lamps for any non-emergency vehicle is 4. Sounds good but since all cars must have 2 headlights, they get us in the specifics here:

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc24402.htm
Quote:
Auxiliary Driving and Passing Lamps

24402. (a) Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed two auxiliary driving lamps mounted on the front at a height of not less than 16 inches nor more than 42 inches. Driving lamps are lamps designed for supplementing the upper beam from headlamps and may not be lighted with the lower beam.
Of course, I know all sorts of people who violate this (and other lighting laws) daily and who haven't been ticketed. Yet. That I know of.

Notice that only one lights up

In many places, the rest are legally required to be "front ornaments"
