Did you use a vin decoder to determin the year of that 50 motor?

It has to be a 1966 or later engine to use the 130 Polini or Malossi kit.

1963-1965 small frame motors can't be modded.

With the PK50 the sky is the limit. If you want to just replace the top end with a 115 kit I don't think you have to mess with the crank and gearing just the carb.

I am doing a pk and would recommend doing a 135 kit. Just a lot better performance wise. Most people seem to go the 135 route. You have to replace the crank and gearing, but if you are splitting the cases to do the seals and gaskets you might as well just do it. If cost is the issue stick with the 115 kit.

The project section over at the Vespa Smalleframe Forum has a ton of examples. Most the guys on there are from the UK as well so you might get some better help as far as where to get parts and other local stuff.

you can. my v90 has the malossi 135. but, like he said, you have to replace the crank, gearing... the guy who tuned my bike spared no expense. so mine is a 4 speed now, 3.5 inch tires... you can get the front wheel off the ground in all 4 gears. it is retarded fun.

No problem. If what your saying is true your probably gonna pass up on the mallossi and polini and head straight for the falc kit.

PK 50... good start.

crack the cases, add a flowed crack. pop on a 135 kit, put in V90 or 125 gearing, leave the 4spd gears as is, upgrade the clutch, upgrade the carb and intake and call it a day.

you've already got the good flywheel and electrics as well as the 4spd so you're half way there.

best,

I was totally kidding about the falc kit. It is very pricey and when it comes down to it less reliable than the regular kits. Also they are most likely too intense for the street. Malossi or Polini will do just fine.

Nice work so far. Looks clean.
