I've been listening to alot of Oasis recently so thought I share one of their greatest B-sides in my opinion

i love oasis.

i saw them in 1994 or so at fitzgerald's in houston. there were MAYBE 15 people at the show. they played fomr some insane amount of time, 3 hours or something.

noel and liam gave us all beers after the show and they hung out with the "crowd" at the bar.

Never really a big Oasis fan, but I always thought that the better songs had Noel on lead vocals. Much better than Liam IMO.

Liam was yesterday reported to be "gutted" by this revelation.

great band saw oasis 14 times shame they split was actually at their last UK gig but looking forward to the new material from both Liam and Noel

I too am a big fan; if you could see my ipod you would find an obscene amount of Oasis albums, b-sides, and side projects. Everybody is quick to slander the band due to the brothers attitudes. Let the music speak.

My wife and I went to see Green Day in Auckland on Friday night. Best concert I have been to in 30 years - seriously, if you ever get the chance - effin' brilliant. Billy Joe Armstrong is a legend.

I caught Oasis in Chicago last winter. They had the misfortune of having Ryan Adams open for them.

Doesn't matter how loud you are or how elaborate the stage, it's hard to follow Ryan Adams singing "Goodnight Rose."

When I saw the title I thought the thread was going to be about Oasis of the Seas, the newest and biggest cruise ship in the world.

Never been to a Springsteen, Buffet or Grateful Dead show have you? They all do 3.5 to 4 hour shows with no opening band every show.

no offense, but i would slit my wrists with rusty tin before i would go to a buffet or grateful dead show.

Don't know what you're missing. They are both just big party's that start in the parking lot hours before the shows.
Best concert hands down though has been the The Jam In The Dam in Amsterdam, talk about a party.

yeah, but they stole the beatles REALLY well. so well in fact, that one one else has been able to manage the same level of steal-age.

No one stole from the Beatles more effectively than the Knickerbockers. "Lies" was as good as a lot of actual Beatles songs.

In the early '90s, the guitar player in my punk band got really into Oasis, and would listen to them all the time in the van. Things got ugly, though, when he would start singing their songs on stage during technical difficulties, etc. I thought they had some great singles (and B-sides), but there was a lot of filler on their albums.

Well, I downloaded "Wonderwall" for Rock Band 2 today on my XBox. I know that probably does -0zero0- for me in the street cred department, but at least it gives me a reason to post in this thread. Great song, great band...

The great thing about McCartney is that you can't see the join. Oasis were great as a teenager (went to Knebworth) and being pissed to when I was about 16. I have all those early, limited singles on vinyl.

They sound more like Slade to me. Their Beatles obsession was really bad at Knebworth when they revealed that huge picture of John Lennon on the stage - really you don't want to have a picture of someone who is so much better than your band its embarrassing as you play your hits.

Steal, but don't suck, Oasis.Paul Weller has been ripping the Beatles from the first day of his career - see Taxman/David Watts debacle.

Noel's better on his own, frankly.

As a floppy haired teen I loved Supersonic, Live Forever, Slide Away; basically bought Definately Maybe and lapped it up - it was the soundtrack to my "coming out" (being allowed to go drinking in grungy pubs full of floppy haired indie kids...nothing to do with being gay).

I loved them. (1994) Then became homicidally bored of them and their flimsy copying of another band I don't like (the Beatles)

You may have just described me can't see me gettin bored of them anytime soon tho. I know they do copy alot of their ideas from other bands such as The Beatles but they do it so well and improve on what they use.

I thought 'Dig out your Soul' was a return to form, so its a shame they wont be doing a follow up for at least a few years.

For some reason the 2025 reunion tour didn't occur to me. Cheers.

I've always thought that they sound more like Slade too, I think that the Beatles reference is just easier for people categorize them in, but if you listen to Definitely Maybe, it's very glammy.

Definitely Maybe is the best album they ever did - its a beer swilling, boot stomping, moshing album. Those chugging riffs are very glam rock and its the album I still listen to. Liam stole Lennon's glasses and took the rest of his King Monkey schtick from Ian Brown. We didn't care at all about the obvious rips because they were the hard edge of the music scene and the rest of it at the time was thin men in velvet jackets* singing about their sexual alienation problems... you more than that.
