Hey, all!

I'm hoping someone can offer me some assistance.

I'm in the process of removing my carberator for cleaning. I was away and let my ET4 sit for 2 months. Even though I had Stabil in the tank I believe the carb now needs to be cleaned--when I start it runs under idle, but as soon as I try to give any throttle it immediately dies.

I've removed everything from the carberator but a small round eletrical connection that appears to screw into the left side (if sitting on the bike) of the carb body. I say "appears" to srew in because it's round but sunk into what seems like a threaded portion of the carb (and silvery blue with two wires comming off it).

How have other folks removed this? I don't want to gank it up by trying to force it out if it's screwed in and if it is screwed in how the heck can it be unscrewed without ganking it up.

Also, how do you folks resecure the gas lines--I cut the circular clamps that came with the bike. Are there fuel clamps this small?

Me and the Vespa thank you the help.

Trace the wires to a plug connector and un-plug it.

It runs into the loom and I short of cutting the loom open I don't know where it ends up.

it sounds like the autochoke. on the pre-leader engine it just unscrews from the body of the carb - two small screws holding down a cover for a plug or some such. i don't know exactly how your carb is configured but that would be my guess.

re. the clamps - your local vespa shop should stock them - to be honest i've had them rust and fall off and the fuel line stayed in fine without them.

Just some thoughts...it may be the autochoke (it's a white plastic assembly that is or was covered by a rubber cap)...I believe you can remove (per the above) by removing the two small screws. You can then dose it with some carburator cleaner...read the tread below (Glasseye)...

Thanks everyone for your help.

Turns out to be the carb heater which just unscrews.
