The former owner of my scooter used screw drivers to replace the tires Wha? emoticon and now the tire has a small leak is they're any way to refinish the rim or repair the rim as it is severely scarred? Is there some band I could put around the rim or coating? Should I just buy a new rim or run an inner tube? What's your opinion/advice? Thanks!

I agree about the sandpaper but I wouldn't use JB weld on a rim. If they are that messed up that you are thinking about JB weld then you really need to replace the rim.

You need to dismount the tire to fix the rim . Use a couple different grits of sandpaper gradually working finer and finer to smooth out the scratches.

After you are done have a dealer install the tires back on the rims using a good rim sealant. Believe it or not Windex works best. You can submerge the rim in a tub of water to check for leaks.

I've used apoxy, which is the same as JB Weld, to repair a gouged rim and it worked just fine. It lasted for years unti I sold the car. Just make sure the base material is thoroughly cleaned before applying the repair and dress it down smoothly.

I guess if they are scratches it would be OK to use epoxy but I guess I was thinking that there were chips or bigger damage.
