Has anybody fitted older two stroke vespa's with a decent aircleaner? The rockstrainer type would do no good at all in dusty or offroad conditions. I'm not after extra performance just a decent aircleaner. Would it be possible to fit a paper or foam element under the seat on the end of the snorkel thingo? Anybody dunnit?

the easiest thing to do is remove the air bellows and replace it with a K&N type filter. If you remove the filter from inside the air box you may need to cut and install the base plate from it as some later models feature a velocity stack type contour that is crucial to airflow. You will also need to fiddle with your jetting.

I would just get the same element and replace. It's made to be cleaned . It also aids in carb. Spitting. You sort of need this type of element for breathing... IMO
