probably has it's uses
perhaps in those marginal cities where it snows occasionally and could be ice on commute in early morning or late afternoons. Perhaps North West of US, parts of Europe or on unsealed roads (gravel). Interesting that they would even consider making such a thing, would be great on MP3s perhaps they see three wheelers as the way of the futur, likely electric covered, or partially covered three wheelers

When the weather is bad enough that you are looking at studded snow tires you don't belong on your scoot for the safety of yourself and others.
I would hate to see someone get hurt riding on ice. |

It's ok to have a discussion about the tires without the intervention of scooter cops! While this forum may be somewhat "Ameri-centric" there are places where commuters depend on their scoots year round. Some of us live in quiet little places were there is no risk to ourselves or others with proper equipment and techniques.

Unless you live where there is a permafrost year round you're more likely to kill yourself with a pair of studded tires on a two or three wheeler.
Snow tires are a different story but I don't think they are going to make much difference either unless you have a dirt bike or honda fat cat. |

I did ride from London to Hertfordshire with ice and freezing fog. I would not recommend it, especially on the Pirellis that come with the Super. Those are too slick for such riding to be done without serious arse clenching when taking a corner. Better spec'd tyres would certainly have helped it be a more comfortable experience.
Louis - I see you have found the pathetic stasi that currently gets about London on its 50 cc death patrol Vespa. They are actually worse than real policemen. They can't ride and they don't know the law either. |

About as useful as the scooter cops here.....at least the photo alone would have made the point with some.... Amazing how well known they are, I even read posts about them here in Lower Lumpa, MN, USA.

The only snow tires I use are the ones on my truck in the winter. They really help a ton in the snow and ice since my truck is RWD.

Just a thought...
If I had listened to some, I wouldn't have hang glided. ski jumped, climbed the dome, married a Swede, experienced a peyote ceremony, moved to Vegas, trekked Namibia, or bought a Vespa. Breath deeply, life is worth risking.
