I am considering putting heated grips on my GTS. If I have good winter gloves (ie- Rev'it Celcius), will I still need them? If so, will I feel the heat thru the insulated gloves?

Are the heated grips a better addon then getting something like Hippo hands muff? Anyone kow if you can use the Hippo's with winter gloves and get then in & out easily?

Where do you live, what do you call "cold" and how long is your commute?

I survive with unheated stuff, but I don't ride more than a few kilometers when it is below freezing (risky road conditions).

When it is between zero and 5 degrees celcius, I do fine for about 20 minutes at 70 kph with just winter gloves/mitts. Above 5 degrees my hands are okay for the full 35-40 minutes commute.

However, dampness can affect this. On a damp day it takes about 3 degrees C more in temperature to offset the damp chill. I use handlebar muffs as well if it is actually raining/snowing.

New York City. Since this will be my first winter, not sure how much riding I will do. See using it mostly got get around on weekends and only occassional commuting of about 45 minutes.

The Hippo Hands work fine with heavy gloves, although that's overkill where I live.

(In fact, now that I've got my new gloves I'm thinking of getting rid of the HHs.)
