Unfortunate, sorry to hear it. I have always had a perfect record with Mr. Brown. It is the suppliers that say "yes sir, yes sir, in stock, ship tomorrow. When it did not arrive in 7 days, "yes sir, yes sir, arrived in new shipment today, will ship tomorrow, yes sir absolutely tomorrow."

If their mouths move, they are lying. Especially TwistedThrottle.

give it three days, cannot tell you how many times that has happened to me. The best part is "delivered and signed for"! Then it shows up.

delivered and signed for? UPS?

Oops, I just realized that I misread... USPS.

All my comments are null and void, I was talking about Mr. Brown, not Sir Postal.

Delivered and signed for(UPS)...........not any more ! Now they don't even wait to see if you are home !

In this case if it is the USPS sounds to me 1 of their employees copped the item, but I could be wrong.

either way they must show Proof of Delivery when asked. just cause they say don't mean crap. also the shipper can request POD as well and not just a computer thing saying it was delivered on this date at this time. Show me the signature.

What brown did for me
I ordered some Gale Banks stuff for my truck, an intake and exhaust system that cost me about $1100. A week after I ordered it I came home from out of town and it was on my front porch, viewable by anyone passing by. They had left it the day before. When I called UPS they said they didn't need to knock on the door, they just leave the package. When pressed they said if it turned up missing then Banks would have to send another set. Banks was not too pleased when I called them to find they were expected to replace items not properly delivered by UPS. Banks called UPS headquarters and got it straightened out. Now the UPS guy always knocks when he leaves anything.

Update, I had made a complaint with the national office about the 3 items in 2 months in the morning, at 8:45,,,, get this,,,, PM a local USPS person called my house to see how they could resolve the problem, took all the info and requested I call them back at 8:30 AM tomorrow....

hmmmm, I hope they come to a speedy outcome but Im betting the package is MIA and they will have to reship one.

Ill update you all as things develop. Moral? Yell loudly in the right ear and at least they will act like they hear you.

I believe if you don't get the package, the driver is responsible and it comes out of his pay check.

Adam how did you become aware of that? Unless things have changed employees cannot be held liable for loss of goods or services whether by neglect or accident. Intentional abuse or loss can be challenged in court and the employee can be let go for negligence "if proven" which can be a bit sticky to do. Most employers take the least expensive way out and eat the loss. My own experience is limited to the state of OR so maybe things differ in other states but I wouldn't count on a USPS, FedEx, or UPS driver having to divy up to cover a lost article, I don't think it will happen.

Bummer, eh?

Is your delivery person named "Newman"?

I used to complain a lot about the USPS until I spent 6 years in Canada. After my experience with Canada Post I no longer complain about USPS. However, for packages I do prefer Brown (UPS) as a more reliable option.

Don't forget FedEx
I think the level of service may be a local problem more than a system wide thing. In my area it's FedEx that's just about useless. They once left a package sitting on the ground at the end of my 300 ft driveway - another time they delivered to the wrong address on the other side of town and I had to wait two days for them to correct and then there was the time they took the package back to their office as the driver said no one was home but I was there all day and there was never a "missed delivery" note - I think the driver just wanted to knock off early.

Unless, shipper specifies "Signature Required" UPS does not need to get a signature.

I worked for UPS and Fed Ex for a very short time, they can't charge drivers anything for missing deliveries.

USPS also contracts out MUCH of their package shipping, I know that FedEx does a lot of shipping for the USPS. I have ordered many packages over the last couple of years and whatched the tracking and I have been "routed" to the Fed Ex site for that service and found one package that sat in a Fed Ex Depot for over a week just waiting to "move on".

I had an envelope sent to me by UPS. It took weeks 'till it was finally found in a UPS delivery truck. I was afraid that's what happened having worked for UPS for years filling 2 semis a day of out going items in soCal while going to college. Now my preference of shipping is FedEx.

Just think for a moment how many places your item has to go to get to you. Anyway along the way it could be stolen or misplaced. If you have an old fashioned mail box someone can steal your item there.

FedEx Logo
OK - this doesn't really have that much to do with this thread but have you ever noticed the arrow between the "E" and the "x" in the FedEx logo? Someone pointed it out to me a few years back and that's all I see now. It's raining in New England today so what else do I have to do besides post things like this?

Her Majesty's Royal Mail are no different. I have had parcels left outside when I was actually in the house. They claim they rang the bell, but I know they didn't. I have also had "signed for" parcels left outside when I was away for several days. If the oldest postal service in the world cannot get it right - who can?

There was no signature required but it kind defeats the purpose of having delivery confirmation if the douche bag mail employee scans the tag and throws the package out the window. I say wait for your mailman to show up and ask him man to man.

Ok. Local USPS says they have no idea where it is and concider the matter closed as it shows delivered. No insurance on the package so Matt and I are at the mercy of the post office ( wow Im screwed ) no tool, no 40 bucks.
