Hi all.

I installed the sliders last weekend, and have had a week's use, so I thought I'd do a review for those considering doing likewise.

Objectives:
I installed the Fuzzy Washer a couple of months ago, and saw only a small improvement in performance. I wanted to get the revs at about 70km/hr at full throttle to above 6000 so as to get maximum acceleration. However, I didn't want to increase the revs at my cruising speed 100-110km/hr (~65mph) too much. The FW increased the revs by about 400 at cruising speed.

Purchasing:
I decided to get the 17g sliders. There are good reports of both the 16 and 17g on the forum, but the 17g appeared to give the best all-round performance - a balance between acceleration/fuel-consumption/top-speed. I bought on E-bay from Autotech355. I ordered on Monday and got them on Friday. Great performance!

Installation:
Easy. Once you've pulled it apart to put in a FW, it's not a problem. There are plenty of references on the forum - thanks guys.

Performance:
The first thing I noticed was that I could really tell when the clutch disengaged on back-off. I think it's because the sliders are lighter and are more slippery, and the belt can spread the pulley halves more easily. So the engine braking is more pronounced, any you notice the disengagement.

The second thing I noticed was that I could easily get the revs above 6000 on WOT at 60km/hr. This is almost 1000 rpm increase. I tested the acceleration, and the 0 to 100km/hr time reduced from 9sec to 8sec. 11% increase in acceleration. Great!

Then I checked out the cruising revs. I was concerned that they would be too high (over say 6000). Anyway I found that at 110km/hr (70mph) they were around 5600. If I suddenly opened the throttle at that speed, the revs went to almost 7000.

In Conclusion:
I think the results are exactly what I wanted. I debated whether I should remove the FW while I had the transmission apart, but I'm glad I left it in.

i agree with your findings, got the same results with out the washer mine is reving to his max torque (7225rpm's 71Nm) it will cost a rear tyre, and the fuel consumption degreesed from 1l to20km with 16 grams Malossi's to 1l to23km with the 17 grams DR Pulley's

Another update:

I've had a problem with the bike when cold. It stalled when the clutch disconnected. I read one of Fuzzy's posts about the Fuzzy Washer, checked the bike and found that the belt had been rubbing on the casing on back-off. So now I've removed the FW. Problem solved.

I've got the Bubbajon 1mm. Well, I don't have it anymore. I'll do a run up the freeway tomorow, and get some rpm figures.

It's interesting that there seems to be a range in results from bike to bike. Variations in the belt width may well be the culprit.

Gonzo.

Went for a rip up the freeway.

At 110km/hr (70mph) the revs were about the same (5600), and when I cracked open the throttle at that speed the revs went to ~6700. It seems that the Fuzzy Washer has only a small effect at those speeds.

I did notice a difference at lower speeds. The acceleration is not as good, but still much better than stock.

Still happy.

Ciao Luca!

Open ebay and search for:

Dr Pulley 25x17 17g Piaggio MP3 Malagutti

That should get you to Autotech355's items. If you want a different weight slider go to Autotech355's store.

He delivered to Australia from Taiwan really quickly.

By the way, what windscreen do you have? I've never seen one like that before.

Da dove sei in Italia?

You can order directly from Union Material. Get in touch with Paul Wu: paul@unionmaterial.com. He is very easy to deal with and shipping is very fast - usually within a few days to North America.

Part # should be SR2517 but confirm with Paul.

If you have a 500, I highly recommend the 16 gram weights. I am ordering 15's and 16's next order, I really want to try the 15's

A little bit of a hijack, sorry... interesting you say this. I fitted 16g sliders at 600 miles and noticed a very pronounced drop-to-neutral effect - I also noticed that if you throttled on when the drop was happening the engine would cut out with a "clonk" (like when you turn off the ignition).

This was actually still notecable when I removed the sliders so my scoot probably does have 'an issue' but it certainly was worse with the lisders fitted.

It hardly happens at all now and I was thinking of trying the sliders again, but if it may be related I guess I'll leave it alone...
